A guy came by the house a few minutes ago (right after I got home from the doctor) telling me that he was selling magazines to get points to earn a $15,000 prize for starting up his business or going towards college. He said he's already been to college so he wants to use the money to start up a day-care that emphasizes physical fitness to the kids. He said 3 of my neighbors had helped him out today. He was real nice, but he kept flirting and asking personal questions.

I decided to go ahead and buy one magazine and a coupon book. He asked if he could come in and use my table to write on and reluctantly, I said yes. I was scared the entire time he was in the house. He filled out all the paperwork for the two subscriptions and I was feeling increasingly uneasy about the situation but hated to tell him that I changed my mind because I was scared of him by this point. So, I was going to give him my credit card number and then call the credit card company after he left. Well, he didn't take credit cards. Only checks or cash.

I told him I didn't have very much cash on me and he asked if I had a jar of change or anything. He also asked if we could go to the ATM, and that would get him even more "points" for me being willing to take the time. Well, I WAS NOT going to do that. So he said, "Well, geez that's a lot of points I'm messing up for him". I told him I was sorry and we finally agreed that I'd just take the coupon book for the amount of cash I had then send the balance in later. I gave him $12.50 in cash and he was on his way.

Then I get on-line and look up the company on the receipt. Wow, nothing but complaints. I'm upset that I'm out $12.50 because my money is tight already. I was just trying to help somebody out. But I'm relieved that he doesn't have my credit card or bank account number. I will not be sending the other half of the balance. Unfortunately, he does have my Name, address, phone number and e-mail address so I expect I'll be getting lots of spam and telemarketing calls. I feel so stupid. I hope a lawsuit gets going against these people real soon. I'll be keeping my "receipt" just in case.

Door to Door sales is Ify at best

AUTHOR: Timothy - (U.S.A.)

If you want to help people by getting magazines thats real cool of you. But dont pay those prices or be intimidated in your own home. He was only a sales kid doing his job for the most part. Try this though www.crescentreadersservice.com LOTS cheaper and sends donations and gives YOU a chance to win money. Alot better
