On April 22, 2004 A charge was process to my PayPal card in the amount of $111.33 to a company named as MWI* LIFESTYLE REWARDS 8778747123 CD. When the company was contacted at the phone number listed (877874712) I was informed that the purchase was authorized on February 29, 2004 during a telephone purchase for a product offered via the television. Checking my card records shows NO purchase transactions on or near February 29, 2004.

MWI did offer to cancel the membership offer and issue a refund that would be processed within 2 business days. I called back on April 27, 2004 and was told that the credit was issued and should show up on my account that day or the next. I talked with Jane and was given the transaction number of 16479. On April 28, 2004 I again placed to call to find out why the refund has not been issued and was told that it may take 5 to 7 business days for their financial institution to process the credit and that they will send a letter to my mailing address confirming the cancellation and refund.

This group of companies has a lengthy history of defrauding U.S. citizens, resulting in several punitive court judgements including a Nebraska case with national effect, forcing this company to return funds taken from consumers without their knowledge or permission (in at least a couple of states, they have to refund DOUBLE the victim's money!)

Among other names, this company apparently operates as:

Lifestyle Rewards
24Protect
BusinessMax
Callers Advantage
CardMember Protection Service
Connections
Countrywide Dental Program
Countrywide Dental & Health Program
Essentials, or MWI Essentials
HealthTrends
Home & Garden Rewards

and probably starts up new ones as quickly as the old ones become known!

I wish to see this company held accountable somehow. I want the general public to be made aware of how this company operates so that they may be somewhat protected. I want refunds issued in a more responsible manner - IE IMMEDIATELY!!!
