A man with an Indian accent called my cell phone at 8 p.m. on July 31, 2014. He said he was calling to offer a grant of $9,000.00 to "US Citizens who pay their taxes and have no criminal record." I asked from what agency of the US government he represented. He said "grants." I told him "No such agency." Then he said "US Treasury." I asked "Are you an employee of Treasury?" "Yes." "What is your naem and badge nymber?" No response. I asked "What is your address?" He said "2300 F. Jackson St, Seattle, WA."
I knew this was a scam as I was searching on-line while I had him on the phone! The US Treasury has NO location in Seattle proper. I asked him "How can I get the money?" He told me to call back and talk to a "Allan Johnson". Interesting all these INDIAN scammers have American names. I called back on 206-973-7917 and asked for "Allan." He said Financial Manager" came on, a "Martin Rious", "Badge No. 5103493." Martin then told me to get my "grant" for being such a "good citizen", I had to go to "CVS or Western Union and buy a "green deck money pack" for $150.00 and pay that as a "processing fee." I told him I would do that right away and call him back with confirmation. He asked "How long will that take?" I said "one hour" then hung up, researched the scam further and found this site."
Gave NO personal info on phone!
