About 1-2 years ago, I went to Rite-Aid to pick up my prescription of Birth Control pills on a Sunday and the Pharmacist on duty said it's against his religion to dispense them on Sunday. I said it has nothing to do with you. I am the one that takes them not you. He would not give them to me even though I pay for them. I had asked the Manager to get him to give me my presciption he said there was nothing he could do. I called Rite-Aid's customer service and they did not even do anything about it. It's not right to put him working on a Sunday. So I switched my prescription to Wal-Greens which turned out to be cheaper.

I work for another pharmacy and sadly the American Pharmacists Association recently reaffirmed its policy that pharmacists can refuse to fill prescriptions as long as they make sure customers can get their medications some other way. The same way anyone in the health care field can refuse to provide treatment if the treatment goes against their beliefs. This has been an ongoing debate in many state houses across the country. Unfortunately large pharmacy chains, including Walgreens, Wal-Mart and CVS, have instituted similar policies that try to balance pharmacists' and customers' rights.
