Riverhead Nissan formerly Riverhead Auto Mall Deceptive advice from finance officer regarding car loan Riverhead New York

 In June of 2014, I had to trade in my 2010 Dodge Journey for a base model 2012 Nissan Altima. I am a single mom raising a child on my own; we get no benefits and live on my salary.

I dealt with Doug a finance manager at Riverhead Nissan. ( My credit is not good because I was stupid enough to help a friend and co-sign for a dirt bike; he made no payments and left me responsible for this debt ) Doug made a deal with Santander Bank for the car loan and as he explained I should take their deal; make timely payments for 8-12 months and then he could assist me with refinancing to a better loan. I believed him and took his advice -I have been paying an outrageous amount of money timely each month for almost two years. 

Stopped at Riverhead Nissan last week just to look at Altima they had on display. New salesman, Frank, was quick to point out again that trading in my car and getting involved in new deal would be advantageous to me - could give me better deal and usual salesman pitch.

Stopped at our local Ford dealer. They took the time to appraise my current car and go over my paperwork. Pointed out that my car is at best probably worth $ 10,000.00 and my remaining payments are $ 22,000.00 which means I have negative equity of $ 12,000.00 and pointed out that they screwed me big time!

I know that Riverhead Nissan took advantage of me in the past; would continue to take advantage of me again and I wanted to report this to your readers. I also realize that because I made a foolish mistake, believed in a friend and I will have to pay monetarily and credit wise for a long time. 

Shame on Riverhead Nissan for preying on trusting consumers.
