Rock 'n Roll Customs Paintworks I had this company install a cowl scoop to my cars hood and had it repainted. The salesman had offered alot of exciting sales pitches and constantly hyped up their quality and all around service. Spoke loudly and enthusiastically. This made me feel like I had gone to the right place. The salesman had promised me that it would be done quickly(approx. 1 day for install and maybe one more day for pai Orange California

These guys botched what should have been simple work for their self proclaimed "50 years of experience" and supposed George Barris inspired tallent, lied about time estimations, demanded I assist them in the work, verbally assaulted me on the phone as well as yelled and cursed at me while assisting them, would not fix botched work as required to by state law, allowed unliscenced(I'm assuming due to a DUI) employee to drive my vehicle, accused me of pesturing them and only giving them 15 minutes to do the job, tried to give me back unfinished wing after losing patience but only after I paid them in full for work unfinished and while manager responsible for all this hid in back office like a typical coward who unjustly yells at a customer via phone.

I had used these guys before to apply and paint a cowl scoop on the hood of my car. It looked great coming out but in just a few weeks the work began to crack at its seams. Since I had another project for them anyway I would come down to pay them another visit, get an estimate for the new job, include fixing the hood using their garrantee, and set up an appointment for leaving my car.

The job was simple. Take my exhisting all fiberglass rear touring wing, cut and reshape its fiberglass supports, sand, paint and apply to car. This should be childsplay to any company that calls themselves "custom", "50yr experienced", or "Barris inspired".

The salesman spoke loudly, excitedly and confidently as if he new exactly what he was talking about. He assured me that the job would only take about 5hrs. I again asked him if he was sure that it would only take 5hrs for I had no other ride home and wouldn't mind waiting around town all day if I new I could get my car back. He assured me it would be no problem and to set up an appointment and date to bring in the car and quoted me at $500.00 for the work. That day I had left them my rear touring wing prior to my appointment date. At the time of scheduling the salesman and I had chosen a time on their calender that was wide open.

On the morning of my appointment I took the day off from work, had dropped off the car and the salesman said we'll call you when we're done today. I said cool. I stopped by their shop again approximately 6hrs after not getting a call from them(mind you this is 1hr past the expected time). I kind of figured they would be running late to make sure it was done right. Unfortunately when I came in I saw my wing sitting in the same place I had left it the day I dropped it off and nothing at all had been done. The salesman said they needed to ask me some questions before they started and that they were currently out to lunch. I waited another hour and a half for the fabricator/manager to get off their lunch as the saleman snuck off for his only to find out from them that they never knew anything about the job and that I would need to schedule a new appointment because they were now booked.

So I did and explained the job to them and to call me if there were any questions or delays. They called me in to examine the work thus far. The braces were cut and repositioned and just needed to be sized for angle cutting. The fabricator/manager after having me wait in the lobby for 2hrs has me come back and inspect the wing. After that he tells me to hold the wing to the back of my car for messurements. The wing is large and cumbersome and is hard to keep it steady. He barked and cursed at me to hold it steady. I left that night feeling insulted.
After a month went by, still not having the use of my car, I had called them to let them know that I needed my car back by the end of the week before my big carshow event. The salesman, again loudly and enthusiastically, assured me that it would be ready that day and that it would be ready within the hour. Excited I had a friend drop me off at the shop, after again calling OUT sick to work, and waited in their lobby for another couple of hours.

The salesman says they're putting the finishing touches on it and it would be about another hour. I leave to go have lunch and come back in 2hrs. The salesman gives me a story about a painter being sick and that they are rushing another painter in to finish the work. Mind you never once does he ever think to call me at any time with such news. After spending/waisting 6 more hours there I ask the salesman if he would drive me back to my house for I had other things I had to do but he said he did not have a car. I said he could take me in my car if that was OK and drive it back to the shop. He said,"let me tell the manager." He came out 2 minutes later and said, "lets go."

One hour later I get an angry call from the fabricator/manager yelling and cursing. He told me I had no right to F-ing "steal" his employee and that his F-ing salesman did not have an F-ing drivers liscence and who the F did I think I was. He then ranted about me only giving him "15 minutes to work on it" even though I had left it with them for about a month and then told me to get my "F-ing car and my F-ing wing out of his F-ing shop now!".

So I do and the salesman says, "the amount for the work done will be $550.00"(an additional $50.00 more than the original quote). I told him to get my wing and my keys but he insisted I have to pay them first before they release them. Outraged and beside myself I decide to pull out my check book. The salesman said they can't take a check but I told him that that's what I had. So he made the exception and said it was for all the trouble they caused and appologized. He took the check and one of the managers croneys made me sign a paper saying they weren't responsible(so I signed it "they have threatened to keep my belongings if I do not sign this document therefore I am signing this under duress") folded it up and handed it to them. He gave me my keys and my wing and guess what? Not only has the wing not been painted and finished but it hadn't even been cut, drilled, threaded, sanded nor primed. In fact they never even fixed my hood like they said they'd do first in compliance of the CA legal service garrantee.

The second I left I called my bank and cancelled my check and then looked up The CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs. In my eyes these guys are nothing but small time amatures and petty crooks. I strongly suggest you consider other opptions and shops in the LA county area instead. The only reason I chose them in the first place was because they were the only advertised custom fabrication shop in all of Orange County. They fabricate alright! Fabricate 50yrs of B.S. From now on I will send my car overseas for custom woork before I ever allow *Rock N Roll Kustoms anywhere near the sight of my car. (*Rock N Roll Kustoms was the name painted on the store window back before my inquiry with The CA Dept of Consumer Affairs. I would assume that such a dept investigation would be the reason they changed their name to "Rock N Roll paintworks"

Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks is our name!

AUTHOR: Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Our name has been and will always be Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks.

It is unfortunate that Todd did not listen to our advice about attaching a fiberglass scoop to a metal hood, knowing that it was going to have issues he wanted us to do it anyway.  And now he complains that his hood scoop is having issues.

It was equally unfortunate that Todd did not allow the necessary amount of time to properly fabricate his after market wing to attach to his Scion xB, knowing the wing was not designed for the application he intended to use it for in the first place.

How can we ensure a fabricated wing will fit correctly without the car being present?  He never allowed us the opportunity to do the job properly.

Instead Todd chose to construct half-truths and libelous assumptions without divulging all the facts.  If, the job was simple or childs play as Todd states, why did he not do the fabrication and installation himself?

Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks prides itself on our quality workmanship and customer service.  We have served thousands of customers helping them achieve the custom paint job of their dreams.

But unfortunately, we cant please all the people all the time.  Some customers are just unreasonable, difficult to work with and down right unpleasant.  Todd is one of those customers.

Canceling his check and writing this rip-off report just shows that Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks is the one who got ripped-off!

i couldnt believe i m reading any of this, i ve known the owners and family for over 10 years, they have painted repaired and help customize so many of my projects that i wouldnt go anywhere else, the entire staff including everyone from Randy Morton himself to Candy , Matt, Kent and lets not forget Mike have been nothing other than helpful and just plain awesome. i love visiting the shop and wanting to find new projects all the time. i dont believe for a second this claim is valid. never ever have they demanded payment like that much less ever demand i assist them ,not ever if anything from day one they worked with me on every aspect from payments to getting things the way i wanted them. there are so many holes in this claim its amazing. these claims are things i know randy would never do. everyone has disagreements, it seems this person thought the best way to get even was to lie. unfortunately for him there are those of us who are faithful longtime consumers of this awesome custom shop and i will continue to remain a longtime consumer. i believe they do some of the best work i have ever seen. if there was any truth to bad workmanship would this shop have been featured on discovery channel? or on the show OVERHAULIN? Chip Foose is a top designer would he really ask for the help of a person who does less then incredible work? or from a person who is less than respectable? i think not, if you think so then you havent seen the work guys like Chip Foose or Randy Morton put out but i suggest highly that you do!! people think lying is a way to make themselves look better, this person might want to look at the real facts and face reality cause nothing he says makes sence and i doubt he has any real fact to back this claim up, in fact i m sure he doesnt...these people who work their hardest to make your projects look awesome have been nothing short of awesome to me and any one of my friends so please before you take this man at his words get the real facts....ROCK N ROLL CUSTOMS AND THEIR STAFF ARE AWESOME!!!! THANKS GUYS
