Tony has been attacked for years by IGNORANT people who have no idea what they're talking about.

On top of all these racism RUMORS, he recently got indicted on 72 counts of Mortgage Fraud, and everyone had a field day with gossiping about him.

Ianne gets three years probation

Friends call him a valuable, honest member of the community.

Pueblo restaurateur Tony Ianne was sentenced Thursday to three years of probation, bringing an end to a sprawling mortgage fraud case in which he was indicted  on  72 felony charges. 

Ianne, 50, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit a computer crime in exchange for the dismissal of the other mortgage fraud counts and two separate cases involving witness intimidation in February. 

On Thursday, Ianne benefitted from his deep roots in the Pueblo community, as a cast of civic leaders appeared in court to speak on his behalf. 

They included City Council President Ray Aguilera, Little Caesar's Pizza franchisee Dave Feamster and Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce President Rod Slyhoff. 

Others were former City Councilman Al Gurule, Phyllis Samora from the chamber, Dan DeRose from Friends of Football and Charlie Jones, senior pastor at Fellowship of the Rockies. 

In ordering Ianne's sentence, District Judge David Crockenberg remarked on their testimony and suggested that Ianne thank them for their time and efforts Tuesday. 

"I've never seen such an outpouring of community support since I've been on the bench," said Crockenberg, who was appointed to the bench in 2002. 

"You need to thank these people," he said. "If they had not show up, this may have turned out differently for you." 

Ianne did just that following the hearing, embracing nearly every person who sat in the courtroom whether they spoke or not.

Among the less-known individuals were members of Ianne's Alcoholics Anonymous group who credited Ianne with helping them fight their addictions. 

Jones said Ianne holds the meeting at his church, that he's worked with Ianne through the peaks and valleys and sees great value in the work Ianne does with the group. 

Nearly every community leader who spoke mentioned Ianne's commitment to community organizations in Pueblo, including his donation of time and food from his restaurant to numerous community and charitable events. 

"I look at the ledger of positives and negatives and the positives are overwhelming in my opinion," Feamster said. 

Gurule said Ianne is too important to the community and his employees to be incarcerated.  "He's like one of the children in our family," Gurule said, adding that Ianne routinely hires inmates from Gurule's community cfacility to work at Rosario's. 

Aguilera, who lives in and represents the Bessemer community on council, talked about knowing the Ianne family from before Tony was born and asked the judge for leniency.  "You know, living in Pueblo we kind of live in a disposable society," Aguilera said. "If someone makes a mistake you just discard them. In Pueblo, if we did that, nobody would live here." 

Aguilera also took up a previous matter involving Ianne in which he was accused of racism for the way he treated a Hispanic family celebrating at his restaurant. 

"I think there has been some question about Tony being a racist, but whenever I go in there, all the people working there are Mexicans," Aguilera said. "I just think it would be an injustice to sentence Tony to jail when he's capable of so many things.

I consider Tony Ianne my friend and it's astonishing what he's done for the community."  Slyhoff and Samora both talked about the contributions Ianne has made to the community and the chamber's outreach efforts. 

Slyhoff called him a great salesman for Pueblo and credited his culinary efforts with helping convince the U.S. Golf Association to hold its women's amateur public links tournament in Pueblo in 2006. 

DeRose highlighted Ianne's support for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and his support for Friends of Football and the Colorado State University-Pueblo football program.  "Tony continues to support the program. He continues to feed the team every Friday night and a lot of the athletes work at the restaurant," DeRose said. "In this setting, it seems odd to say this, but Tony is the most honest man I know. He tells you what he thinks and he pulls no punches." 

While Ianne's defense focused on his charitable contributions to the community, Deputy District Attorney Steve Jones said that through his experience prosecuting the case he came to know a different side of Ianne. 

Jones noted that Ianne's conviction didn't come as a result of a mistake as Aguilera suggested, but from a concerted effort to manipulate a lax mortgage industry and line his own pockets.  "The only reason this ended was because the market crashed, leaving Mr. Ianne without an exit strategy," Jones said. 

Jones characterized the case as a lost opportunity because Ianne was investing in properties in distressed neighborhoods. But he chose to follow the path of greed and avarice rather than helping
improve those areas. 

Jones asked Crockenberg to sentence Ianne to a term in a community corrections facility and limit his ability to engage in similar business practices that ended with Thursday's hearing. 

 In a written statement, District Attorney Bill Thiebaut said his office believed a community corrections sentence would have advanced the goals of safety and economic well-being of the community.  "The judge saw it differently," Thiebaut wrote. "It is always the hope of this office that individuals who are convicted of a felony, whether sentenced to prison or not, turn their lives around." 

Ianne apologized to the community and the gathering of his friends.  Acknowledging that he caused considerable embarrassment for them, he said he would accept whatever Crockenberg ordered. 

Crockenberg said that imposing a jail or prison sentence on Ianne would not serve the interests of the community, his employees or the people who rely on his 12-step group. 

However, the judge imposed additional conditions on Ianne's probation that he refrain from any real estate transactions, disclose his conviction when entering into any other business dealings and make his financial information available to the probation department. 

Randy Jorgensen, Ianne's attorney, said the team was pleased with the results and that his client was relieved.  "It's a huge burden that's been lifted," he said.

Here was my own personal response to his sentencing:

Proudly Supporting Tony Ianne! by Cara Correnti

I am overjoyed to say, that on this day, justice has FINALLY been  served for Mr. Tony Ianne in Pueblo, Colorado. I witnessed firsthand how he suffered extreme persecution and defamation of character due to an unwarranted, and in my opinion, BLATANTLY OBVIOUS personal attack by District Attorney Bill Thiebaut.

Needless to say, I was extraordinarily outraged by all the citizens of Pueblo, Colorado, who were broadcasting so many negative comments based on their own pre-mature judgement, which most likely stemmed from misinformation and rumors. This is a perfect
example of what I would call PURE IGNORANCE!!!

However, I'm not denying the possibility that some level of crime may have taken place, but IT NEEDS TO BE KNOWN that Mr. Ianne unfortunately  became a 'sacrificial lamb' or 'fall-guy' in the entire situation!

There were SEVERAL other individuals who took no responsibility whatsoever concerning their involvement in the case. Instead, they had the convenience of being able to shamelessly point their fingers at a seemingly 'perfect' target.

Even more preposterous was the fact that these individuals were ACTUALLY ENCOURAGED by several influential figures in the investigation (all connected to Thiebaut) to wrongfully incriminate Ianne by putting the blame entirely on him.

In return for testifying against Ianne, they were granted immunity. It was an utter disgrace! There were extensive amounts of corruption taking place behind closed doors, and I'm not the only person who is aware of this FACT.

Who am I to make these accusations? I'm an outraged citizen who is tired of corruption and injustice.

Moreover, I've also had my own experience with corrupt Pueblo detectives and a certain District Attorney several years ago. My family should have SUED, but instead we moved on with our lives.

Needless to  say, I'm SICK of keeping my mouth shut when it concerns matters such as these.             
Also, when it comes to Tony's situation, I was extraordinarily saddened to see that such a TRULY kind-hearted, charismatic, and charitable figure in the community was being crucified on such a horrendous level.

Tony has definitely not received enough well-deserved credit for all the kind, generous, and selfless acts he has been responsible for in Pueblo.

Basically, TONY IS NOT kind of person that would ever intentionally cheat people, and the entire situation has been really unfortunate!

Nevertheless,  it is most definitely true, that nobody is perfect, everyone has some sort of reputation, and we have all made mistakes in our past.

Even so, I ALWAYS live by the saying, "HE WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE!" Growing up in the small town of Pueblo has instilled this belief system in me FOR LIFE!

There is now, and has been for decades, an outpouring of individuals prying into each other's lives, and ruthlessly tearing one another down in order to somehow maintain their own SICK sense of self-worth and pride.

I FIRMLY BELIEVE Pueblo should change it's ways, and start living with kindness, patience, good-will, understanding, and CONVICTION!

In addition, I also have no doubt that it's is necessary to SUPPORT AND LIFT UP one another instead of speaking ill-words and  sanctimonious accusations that inevitably cause much PAIN AND MISFORTUNE for those who are victims!

This is important not only for citizens of Pueblo, but for everyone on this earth! If anyone who reads this ends up feeling a level of GUILT within their hearts for being involved with gossiping about or attacking another person's character, please consider how much more positive life could be without that nonsense and negativity!

Most of all, consider reflecting on how you are living your life on this earth. After all, we all should recognize that our time here is short, and we could be here today and gone tomorrow!

Ask yourself what moral code of conduct you would desire to poses in the event of your final hour, and what legacy you wish to leave behind. I can't imagine that anyone would want to be remembered as being a harsh and judgmental human being.

Finally, I strongly feel that it is necessary to share a few very inspirational quotes about BROTHERHOOD and NON-JUDGMENT!:

This is only one side of the story! The mother was extremely drunk and disrespectful towards Mr. Ianne, and she was making derogatory and racial remarks about him! He's definitely not a racist. Half of his staff is Hispanic! Tony Ianne has run a wonderful restaurant, and treated ALL of his customers and employees with kindness, hospitality, and respect for many years! There are many neutral witnesses that know what really happened, and it's unfair to post a fabricated report that is based on a completely bias person's opinion. Also, did anyone ever mention that the woman who caused all of this has an extensive history of creating problems and taking people to court in pursuit of money? I think that FACT puts a very interesting spin on the entire situation. Definitely go to Rosario's and make it a point to introduce yourself to Mr. Ianne and you will see for yourself what a kind and friendly gentleman he really is! Not to mention, the food is so delicious you'll forget all about these ridiculous rumors!

I worked for Mr. Ianne for 5yrs as an assistant manger for catering; I am no longer with the company due to this incident which I will further explain.

I happen to be working that party that day, it was father's day, I was asked by a waitress to go out and talk to Mr. Ianne, Mr. Ianne informed me that he was receiving several complaints that the music was to loud and had asked me to have the music turned down. I went back into the restaurant and asked the band to turn down the music, the band replied " We are not a DJ we can't just turn down are music, it will sound like s**t if we do. At this time the mother of the graduate came over and asked me what the problem was, I explained to her that the music was to loud and that it needed to be turned down because I was receiving several complaints, I also explained to her that the restaurant will be closing early, being that it was fathers day and that after the restaurant was closed they could play the music as loud as they want.

The mother became very upset at this request and started cussing me out and stating that she's going to play her music as loud as she wants because she is paying a lot of money for the party, she then asked me to get Mr. Ianne, I pulled Mr. Ianne from his dinner that he was having with his family and explained to him what was going on.

Mr. Ianne explained to the mother that he was receiving several complaints that the music was to loud and asked her politely if they could turn it down, the mother became very upset and began to curse at Mr. Ianne, at this time a man came over (not sure who he was) and asked Mr. Ianne what the problem was, again Mr. Ianne explained to him the situation. The man became upset as well stating that they are not causing any problems and that there going to continue to play the music as loud as they want. Mr. Ianne explained to them that if they did not turn down the music that he would refuse service to them and have there party exited, at this time several members of the family began cussing and throwing a fit, at this time Mr. Ianne turned the power off to the band and told the family to get the "F" out.

At this time the family became even more upset and started to group up, I remember one guy standing on a table with a beer bottle in his hand (as if he was going to throw it) and remember several members of there family making commits both vulgar and racial toward Mr. Ianne and the other staff who had came in to see what was going on. The man that I stated above was the one who threw the chair at Mr. Ianne, Mr. Ianne simply stopped the chair from hitting him and that was the moment he turned the power off to the band (stated above). The police showed up and escorted there party from the restaurant. I can say that a lot of there party had been drinking most of the night and that the mother herself had a bill over a 100 dollars.

Like I said I worked for Mr. Ianne for 5yrs, because of this party it hurt his reputation and I was forced to leave the company due to this, I gone from working 50 hrs a week to about 10 hrs a week, you do the math and put 2 and 2 together.

Mr. Ianne was always good to me and honestly treated me like a son......

I highly doubt that Tony Carleo would say racist things like that. I have been in there to eat several times and he had never been even remotely rude to anyone. Inf act there was a fight that broke out between two guys that were mexican, and he did not use any racial slurs whatsoever. I don't know where you are gettiong your information, but it obviously was not out of Tony's mouth.
