Rotax Rick Ron Davis He ripped me off and lied about the insurance claim Naples Florida

Rotax Rick claims in his statement regarding the other claim on here that it's just one guy in hundreds of people he deals with but I have news he's a big ole fat lier. I sent an engine to him and paid full price for top end overhaul. When engine came back it looked like it was rolled down stone mountain. Tins bent ,crank shaft end bent,fan shroud bent.

So I mistakenly let Fed ex take the engine back. Little did I know that with insurance if you are the purchasing agent even if it's your property the person buying the shipping insurance gets the claim money. So he gets the engine back and claims it's not his fault and I should just put it back on and fly because FedEx will only pay a few hundred dollars on a claim and it would cost me more money to have him true out the crank shaft than FedEx would pay.

Well I argued that it was in his hands and if it were packed correct which it was not, it wouldn't have gotten as damaged and he was responsible. Well that prompted him and his wife to call me names and leave me nasty messages from the start. So in short I told him to file a claim regardless. Reluctantly they did and about a week or so later told me that the claim was for approximately $600+ this is where it gets interesting.

I called FedEx inquiring about the claim and somehow they thought I was Rick and gave me all the details of the claim. Seems he had made the claim for $1300+ and told me they were only going to pay less then half of that. So when I told Rick what he had done he proceeded to yell and cuss at me saying what are you trying to do ruin my business and that I wasn't a real pilot.

All this time while holding my engine for ransom telling me if I didn't stop that he would never see it again. I lost 6 to 8 months of flying time going back and forth with him as he made a deal with me to basically send me the remaining balance of the claim and only charge me the original $600 which included get this that I pay $400 claim filling fee which his wife argued they charge everyone to file a claim regardless of the amount.

This got to the point where me and my wife had gray hairs and one of the worst experiences dealing with anybody in our entire lives. Also I have heard Several several! Other people who have had similar experiences with Rotax Rick but they have chalked it up to lesson learned instead of filling reports and such. also when I finally received the engine back and breaking it in correctly that God it was on a powered parachute because I had an engine out 30sec after take off and pistons were scored prompting new top end.

Take that for what it's worth but after going to to toe with this guy and his wife over him filing claims for more then double what he told his clients and letting FedEx know exactly what he was doing I can understand why the engine wasn't as he said it was going to be. Take from that what you will. If you value your life and bank account do yourself a favor stay away from this guy.
