Be careful of this service department, I think that the mechaics may work on commission, kind of like a carpet cleaner. (not saying they do, but it sure sounds like there selling scotch guard)

Came to the dealership with problems with my car not running in the rain, they game me a detailed report of all the work that needed to be done,  the work totaled over $1100 after tax.

This sounded suspicious, so i took the van home and looked at it my self.
I found that only the distributer cap and rotor needed to be repaced.
I did this simple repair and now the van runs as good a new.???????????????????????????????????????

I am not a mechanic and have vary little experience with this but with watching a video on the internet and picking up the parts  ($70.00) from Canadian Tire. I did this my self.

They should be embarrased.

A Shameful And Lame Excuse

AUTHOR: iAtsu - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 16, 2013

I too have experienced a similar thing from a nearby dealership, which will for now remain unnamed. From reading this article, I'm left feeling that there is a very serious problem about dealerships in this area, or at least from the two major dealerships within 5 kilimetre radius.

I believe this is an endemic, systematic and researsed method of ripping off customers on this stretch of road. And they are not shameful of it.

Whoever replied for Roy Nichols to the customers complaint must be ashamed of himself. How justifiable is it to make a repair to a vehicle at almost 50% of the cost of what that vehicle could sell for? If he knows he is giving a factual reply, why did he not provide his name?

We have people like this all over, who rip-off others, and as crminal as it sounds, will never go to jail. Too bad.

Remember I said I too have a complain against other dealership accross the road, (figuratively speaking)? That may come out soon.

I hope by now, these guys know their being watched

Hmmm

AUTHOR: Collin - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 01, 2011

It sounds like the person who commented on this, (who did not leave a name or position) might be suggesting that they have been doing this since 1922.  Atleast thats what i got out of there comment.

I was naturaly upset at being charged 119$ for 30minutes work, aswell as feeling like someone was trying to con me out of my money.  I think anyone would be upset with this.  I feel like I trusted someone and then felt like I was beeing stabed in the back. I expressed my concerns and no one would do anything about it.  The mechanic (I use that title loosly) posibbly salesman, not sure, would be a better title.  Couldn't offer any suggestions that could help.  Just felt like i was being bullied to pay.  Clearly customer service needs some improvment.

I don't have any problem with GM, just this dealership.  who wouldn't if its true that they have been doing this since 1922.

Shame on you.

PS, a 14 year old van with 211000 km. sounds like its well taken care of.

Collin, It appears that General Motors is linked to the Federal Reserve. If you 'Google' this- WHO OWNS THE FED?, and go to the site with the 5 charts.........

you'll see that General Motors appears in 'Chart 3', correct?

Maybe you should send a letter to Mr. Bernanke and inform him of what's going on, right? Perhaps he'll alert all of the GM dealerships to stop taking advantage of customers.

Good luck to you!

Our side of the story

AUTHOR: Roy Nichols Motors Ltd. - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, February 28, 2011

At Roy Nichols Motors we know that our customers depend on their vehicle to help them manage their busy schedule.  Our service experts have been trained to know everything about vehicles.  We use GM-approved parts and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to make sure our customer's vehicles run properly and we only suggest repairs that are needed.

In this case, Mr. Orr brought his GM vehicle to us because he needed our help. After diagnosing his vehicle's problem we recommended repairs that were needed and repairs that would improve the reliability and dependability of his vehicle.

We are not into providing band aid solutions for our customers. The $70 expenditure as outlined by Mr. Orr's note will not correct all the issues that his vehicle exhibits.  Band aid solutions that do not last lead to problems that often cause financial hardship and inconvenience to an individual.  We would rather be upfront and honest about what the vehicle truly needs than put customers back on the road with a band aid repair.  Roy Nichols Motors has been selling and servicing vehicles since 1922.  We have top Customer Satisfaction scores year after year and this is because we conduct business with our customers with honesty and integrity.

If Mr. Orr is upset about hearing the truth about what his 14 year old, 211,000 km vehicle truly needed we should not be held responsible for his emotions.  In fact, when Mr. Orr left our place of business he was observed damaging our property which necessitated corrections.

In this case, Mr. Orr, unfortunately, has only fooled himself and has in fact only partially repaired his vehicle’s condition.
