WWhat a terrible disappointment! 

Ryan Harrigan, the owner of All Around Carpentry, is a great salesman, NOT a great tile setter. Unfortunately, he sells one on a ‘skill’ for which he seems to be substantially lacking.  

The very first week he started the tile work on our new home we became concerned. It looked sloppy. His attitude was even worse, making excuses for everything that we questioned.

Because of this my husband and I asked several other independent tile setters to inspect his substrate work. Each independent tile setter confirmed our fears that his work was poor and not to industry standards. His poor workmanship necessitated us terminating his contract before he could go any further. 

We had to remove the substructure work he installed. Unfortunately we found it to be even worse than we realized on the surface. 

One area lacked a vapor barrier causing much of the water in the concrete to be pulled into the wood subfloor causing the concrete to become weak and crumbling. We found that chicken wire reenforcement was not installed under all of the concrete, especially in the highest traffic area, where the substrate would have never been able to support the 2”x7” tile  that was to be installed in a herringbone pattern. 

A shower pan did not have the Schleuter membrane properly installed and would have leaked eventually. Upon removing the wall backer board he installed, with both screws and nails, (he seemed to use what ever he had at hand instead of consistently using the proper materials) we got the surprise of a water line being pierced by a nail that he used. Thankfully we found this before tile was in place and major water damage occurred downstairs!

His ‘professional’ manner, after he cashed our check, became combative and rude. When he was confronted with questions he did not want or know the answer to, he would text contentious replies, if he replied at all. At one point he texted me that he would only speak to my husband (!) when I showed concern regarding the job. He estimated low to get the job and then raised his prices once he had the job. 

He has a ‘know it all’ attitude when his work and business acumen actually prove otherwise.

To date he has refused to return much of the money we paid him for work not completed.
