To whom it may concern...
Earlier this evening, I was visited by a young female who claimed to be a student from a local school who was participating in a school program which would award students scholarships for doing certain "tasks." She claimed that the students were traveling door-to-door and cleaning carpets in order to earn "credits" toward their scholarships. She asked if they'd be allowed to enter into the house and clean my carpets. I declined. She then began to plead, as a young child would (using guilt), by claiming "but it's for our education."
I then informed her that I was not able to afford any services at the moment. She assured me that I did not have to pay ANYTHING and that it was "totally free." In addition, she stated that they "were NOT selling ANYTHING." After about a 5 minute discussion, (and assuming from what I was told, that they were students from the Saint Paul, Ne School) I decided to let them enter. This is, after all, a small town and negative words spread quickly; I didn't want to be the bad guy by turning my back on a child's education that they must really want.

I allowed them to enter under 1 condition. That they only cleaned 1 small section of the day-room carpet, just enough to get their "credit" and that was it. I was assured it would only take 2 minutes. Afterward, an older gentleman and a young man accompanied her into the house. The older man introduced himself as "Josh" from Kearney, and introduced the younger man as "Cody" from Grand Island. (This sounded strange to me.) The girl was never introduced.
"Josh" the older man, stated that "Cody" is going to clean my carpet and that he would then have to show me a "few" things so he could get his "credit." "Josh" and the female left at that point, leaving "Cody" there with me and my 7 month old baby girl. "Cody" then went into his sales pitch for Kirby vacuum cleaners. I knew at that moment I had been HAD.

I informed him right away I would NOT be able to buy anything and that I was NOT interested. I informed him that I had been LIED to in order to get him into my house! He then contacted a man named "Brad", on MY cellphone which cost 15 cents per minute L.D., who apparently told him to reduce the price. He then made me a lower offer. I declined AGAIN.
After a short, heated argument, he asked to use the phone again to contact the same man again. He asked to man to "text" "Josh" to have him pick him up. Then he hung up, and gave me another OFFER. after 3 hours of demonstration and price-lowering offers, "Josh" and the female returned in their silver van to pick "Cody" up.

Now, does this sound "professional" to you? How can anyone in their right mind not see something wrong with this? I'm home alone with my 7 month old daughter and people are lying to me just to get into my house?
Isn't this intrusion? If I went to your house and it was just you and your young child, and told you I was there for a particular reason, you let me in, then you found out that I was there for a totally different reason, would you be scared a little? If I believed in guns, I believe I would have gotten one. I was planning on contacting the police, but I was not sure what could be done about it. In this world, it's the burden of proof.

Someone can harm you, but if there is no proof, you're out of luck. I contacted the main Kirby company online. S-5 does not have an e-mail address listed online anywhere from what I've seen. I think some one owes me, my daughter, and my wife an apology and owes reimbursement for the use of our phone. They entered our home under false pretenses. My wife returned home before they left and she is a witness. And "Cody" even stated that he would vouch for me on this one as well, because he knew and felt bad after I explained my position.
Thank you for your time
Sincerely,
