I did have a death in the family.  I had a miscarriage.  I went to the hospital.  I have not have several deaths in the family, so I am not sure what this vendor is talking about.  My dog died in April and I still had my event.  However, with the miscarriage, the doctor put me on bed rest and I had a fever and I was not physically and emotionally able to have the event.  I do not think "the show goes on" in this case.  I have had vendors many times tell me that they have various emergencies and I have always tried to work with them and never charged them if they needed to be in another event.  I would think as a woman, someone would understand this.  I am shocked and amazed at the behavior of some people.  Compassion for others goes a long way.  Obviously, this person has no compassion for others.  I offered the vendor the opportunity to participate in a future event.  I really hope something like this does not happen to the original poster.  Maybe then, they would understand.

     Ms Jackson's rebuttal that there was a death in the family does not justify the cancelling of such a large event. She promised brides that there would be $2,000.00  in door prizes representing 40 vendors. In her cancelation e-mail, Ms. Jackson added " and I also have a high fever " and that is when my BS meter went off. Talking to other angry vendors, we discoved that Ms. Jackson has had several deaths in the family and has done this before. I flew out from California to help my daughter with this event. As a business woman myself ( over 40 years ) regardless of what is happening in my personal life, " the show must go on " . Especially when you are backing out on such a large group of people. Ie: I not only spent the last week with my mother as she passed away ( non-stop as she was at deaths door for 6 days ) I met with a client the NEXT day and another the day after that all the while planning her funeral as well. Her flim flam excuse does not wash and I do not believe her.

     It was clear that Samanth Jackson was not prepared for this event and made an excuse at the last minute to back  out with complete disregard for her vendors and brides. Shame on her! Works well under pressure? I think not.
