Had a SAMSUNG LCD TV LNS40 for ober 2 years now (bought @ Circuit CIty) for $1,300 and not after just over 2 years it is making this clicking sound when i turned it on and will not turn on after about 1 minute. Checked this website and found out that this is a common issue with Samsung TV (http://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=62360&st=0&sk=t&sd=a). TV should be recalled and replaced by Samsung. this will be my first and last samsung TV. poor quality and with the amount i paid for this TV this should last at least 8 years.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

ALWAYS buy the extended warranty!! And..

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Nowadays you MUST buy that extended warranty that the salesperson always pushes on you. It is the best investment you will ever make.

FYI...No modern flat panel LCD or PLASMA TV is designed to last 8 years. Simply is not in the cards. LCD 3-5 years and PLASMA your lucky if you get 3 years if it doesn't burn your house down first.

The good news is, I can point you in the right direction on your problem since my best friend is a multi brand factory authorized service tech with 28 years of experience. We do alot of tv talk, and I have worked with him on some jobs too.

That LCD Samsung only has like 3 or 4 replaceable components at the basic service level. Then you get into component repair which nobody does anymore. It is cheaper to replace the entire set. That set you paid $1300 for 2 years ago can now be replaced for about $700-$900 retail, maybe less. Prices have gone down sharply.

Now, will your tv not turn on at all or will it not turn on only when using the remote? These are separate problems.

If your unit will turn on when using the controls on the tv itself but will not turn on when using the remote, check this: Many of these units have a capacitor in the remote eye circuit. It serves no purpose at all. It is a design flaw. Remove the capacitor from that circuit and most likely your problem will be solved.

If your unit will not turn on at all by any method, most likely your main board is cooked. Without warranty coverage, this will cost you more than just buying a new tv.

Also, don't blame Samsung. These tvs are ALL junk, regardless of the brand or how much you paid.

ALWAYS buy the extended warranty. This is NOT optional, as you will now find out.

If you can't afford to throw it away, PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT.

I paid like $150 for mine from Sam's Club for 3 years on top of the 1 year manufacturer, and 1 more year from Sam's Club for upgrading my membership. I have 5 years of repair or replace coverage that cost me a grand total of about $200 in all for 5 years. That's $40 a year for peace of mind for 5 years. Money well spent.

Would you drive your new car without insurance? Or without a comprehensive warranty?

Think about it.
