Sanford Brown College Misleading,lying Collinsville Illinois

I, La'Shounda Bennett am filing this report on behalf of the fact that Sanford Brown College in Collinsville, Illinois lied to me and many others during this time, (2006-2007) school year. I simply went in to inquire about computer technology. I was basically forced into applying for classes there after being sold a book full of lies such as: the staff there claimed that any and all credits there would be accounted for if I should choose to further my education at any other school after completing couses at Sanford Brown College in Collinsville, I was also told that the program assists with job placement in my field of study for hire. After being told this by staff there, I specifically asked if their staff would be making connections with employers on my behalf, I was told yes but not to discontinue classes there at Sanford Brown College because they would work around my schedule to ensure that I completed the entire program, was also told that if I wasn't satisfied with the services there within two weeks time, I can withdraw with no problems for as long as it was done in a timely manner within the two week time frame.

Everyone in the classes I took were very excited about the job placement portion of this lecture. On or about the second or third day of attending this school, I began to hear others say things like (they) ,meaning Sanford Brown College lied to us like they're going to help us contact employers in our field of study and get us hired. I was very concerned about this and went to the counselor's office and spoke with the woman whom talked all of this good talk to me and asked her about what I over heard someone else saying to another group of students. This counselor assured me that what the students were saying were untrue and that the staff there WILL be making contact with employers in our field of study. I was also asked alot of personal questions about my immediate family that I felt had absolutely nothing to do with my educational services I requested.

Somewhere within that first week of school, I went into this classroom still uncertain upon whether or not I should continue attending this particular school or not,surprisingly we were told that we were going to have a guest speaker that morning and to pay very close attention to the lecture. I was under the impression that this guest was going to be giving us valuable information on job leads or something else beneficial to the class. Unfortunately, this extremely woman comes in and tells everyone to shut up and listen. She bagan her lecture by saying," I know most of you have been told by the staff here at Sanford Brown College that we would be assisting you all in job placements, that's not true, we will not be doing that,that's entirely up to you." She went on to say "How could we reccommend you all for jobs when you have no skills?" Many people including myself began raising our hands to speak but were told to put our hands down as many as well as myself began to just burst out and ask her questions.

My question was,"Why did the staff lie about helping me find a job while attending school here?" The woman responded by telling me she wasn't done talking yet and that I should not have interrupted her. She also added if any of you guys have a problem with it,you can get up and walk out right now because your money has already been disbursed to the school and that's all on you,we've already got the money. Many students did just that,they got up and walked out of the class as well as the building. Many went to the counselors office. I stayed behind for a little while along with a few other students to hear more of this wicked converstion. The guest speaker then went on to tell us that no one earns a degree there, that this school only offers what we call a "certificate of completion." So those of you whom have been told otherwise,another untruth. We asked her if the school was accredited and she said "no." There are no degrees given nor earned here,she gave an example of something as simple as an high school diploma. She told us there's not very much that you can do with this certificate because many employers will not recognize it and no schools we plan to transfer to and attend will accept it because Sanford Brown College is not accredited.

After hearing or tolerated as much of this lecture as I possibly could, I then went back to the counselors office and asked her why she and others I'd spoken with had lied to me like this. I explained to her that I was low income at that time and that I could not afford to get into that type of debt. I also told her I was a single parent,barely making it and that I didn't want to get into anything that wasn't meant to help better my situation at that time.Unfortunatley,this company is only all about the mighty buck,they did not care about the people they took advantage of and practically laughed in our faces about it. I'd like to see the money they claim I owe them for nothing taken off of my credit report because I was mislead and they're nothing more than scam artists at its best. Something should be done about this company legally. Oh,and now they're permanently closed.Who would've ever thought?
