#2 Consumer Suggestion

Bypass Customer Service, Go Straight To Corporate!

AUTHOR: S.n. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 05, 2006

Call the customer service number on your SBC bill, tell them you want the charges removed and ask for the corporate office number. Tell them you are concerned about any company being able to charge your SBC account and tell them you want the situation monitored. Good luck.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

This company's privacy policy is SCARY!!!

AUTHOR: Lorraine - Geek Consumer Advocate :-) - (U.S.A.)

Once this company gets your information, they have the right to pass it along to anyone they deem needs it. You will end up with all kinds of email spam offers, telemarketing calls and who knows what else. Read the sad truth for yourself at the end of my post.

I looked and found no connection to Residentialvoicemail.com and Nationwide Voicemail, which both have now been proven to use no phone number in their domain whois, the same host for their domains and same domain companies. It seems this Roctel is running the same voicemail scam, but not connected to the other two known crammer companies who are getting a LOT of reports filed on them recently.

Other references I could find online to Roctel is the same stories as the before mentioned companies on this site. You go to an innocent looking website and fill out a survey, send someone a card, get freeie music or screensavers. The next thing you know you get an email from one of these 3 companies thanking you for signing up for their voicemail service which will be charged to your phone bill.

Don't give out your personal information on websites. That is how they are connecting your email address to your phone number and billing you for things you didn't ask for. If you are getting something for free on their site, they have no need of your phone number or anything more than a nickname. Protect yourself when online as best you can so these bad companies can't take advantage of you.

Here is their privacy policy:
