Luckily, I have been around enought to small a rip-off from ten miles away. I own a company but business has been more than slow, so off to pavement pounding. I sent a resume to a company called Scanno Advertising in Anaheim. I had a feeling they were a SCAMMO but was bored and went to an interview.

They claim to work with several fortune 500 companies in the marketing end. I guess that could be in some weird way construed as true. If you could call pouncing on unsuspecting gasoline buying customers as marketing. I know I got my MBA from Havard to to do that!!! (I just have a BA from Cal-State Long Beach)

I was interviewed by a nicely dressed, knaive young man whom was equipped with all the canned sales pitches from Salesmanship 101. I asked him very out-of-the box questions about the company which he could not supply answers too. He contiually went back to the well-rehearsed speeches he was taught. The interview became hillarioius when I grabbed his pen and neatly laid out the pyramid scheme this actually was to paper. I was immediately told that I was asking too many questions and this job would not be for me! I had to laugh at that point. I announced to the ten or so people waitiing in the lobby that this was a scam. A couple people left. I felt vindicated for my time ill spent.
I let the young man know that honesty and integrity would get him further than this SCAMMO Advertising ever would no matter what company he worked for.

Basically what SCAMMO was looking for was people to hang out at gas stations and talk auto cleaners and wax to a captive person pumping gas. This is an entry level marketing postion with a bonafide company?
Hey, we all have to make a buck...but come on, be honest about how you are going to be making it within your company. Maybe some people could make a liviing selling car cleaners at gas stations.

It's a shame to waste people's times, get peoples hopes up and just darn right lie to them to further your own goals. SCAMMO....its obvioius why your name appears on the job boards all the time.

I would challenge you to be honest in your endeavors. You may be able to hold a team together that way.

I was almost got sucked into this company

I too interviewed at Scano in Anaheim, CA. I was called later that night to come back for a 2nd interview the next day. I agreed as I was curious and needed a job. This was an all day "ride along" so to speak where you shadow an account manager to see the ins and outs of the job. Basically, they said they were an indipendent marketing firm for such orginizations as The Los Angeles Dodgers, The L.A. Clippers, Chivas soccor, Anaheim Ducks, ect. ect. ect... That sparked my interest even further as I am a big sports fan. In a nut shell they sold me a blue ribbon deal stating that in a year I would be making 6 figures and be the head of a marketing office. All we did that day, was drive around to highly populated shopping centers and office buildings in an attempt to sell Dodger tickets in areas of Orange county. DODGER TICKETS IN ANGEL'S COUNTRY!!!!! I was then told that they were doing this "marketing" for these organizations FOR FREE!!!!! I quote the Joker from The Dark Knight "If your good at something never do it for free". Red flags went up all around me. I was offered the job that night and came back the next day to sign paper work, only to find out that the pay was based off soley on commision, which IS NOT what was presented to me the day prior (though they like to refer to it as profit shareing). I'll tell you this, the whole day, only 2 ticket packages were sold at a total cost of $100. I figured that I would only see about $20 of that. DO the math people, that is WAY less than minimum wage. DO your self a favor and don't fall into this scam. I also did not accept this position as I can find a better way to wast 12 hours a day of my time for only $20.

I was applying for jobs via the job boards a few days ago and got an email from Scanno saying they wanted to interview me. I called them to set up an appointment and was very pleased to come in today. I went to do my due diligence about the company this morning when I ran across this post. Thank you!! You've saved my time and gas money. I can't believe I was about to drive down to Anaheim to get a job selling crap to people pumping gas. I wrote them an email saying that I had run across some very interesting scam reports about their company and that I would not be attending the interview, nor should they EVER contact me again. Thanks!!

I am sorry, but I interviewed with Scanno Advertising/Dual Starr in Anaheim, California. You must know...it was a commercial area. Of course you are confused as there were lots and lots of unsuspecting prospects in your lobby waiting to be interviewed. I am sure you go through hundreds a week.

My app was probably trashed as I had absolutely no interest in working for you. In my rip off report all I did was state what happened to me in the interview at Scanno Advertising in Anaheim. If you think you can sue over that...well have at it.

What numbers are disconnected, you said you don't have numbers. God, you people need lives.

Thank you so much...

Dear:

Alexis
Owner, QE Productions
Long Beach State 1980-1984

I contemplated ignoring this post but I felt something had to be said.

Maybe before you post a blog on a site like this, perhaps you should make sure you know what company it was you actually interviewed with. Obviously, after reading a complaint on this level, I chose to research and find out who posted. I have nothing in my records that tells me you even interviewed with my company, and we have never had people "hang out at gas stations and talk auto cleaners and wax to a captive person pumping gas". I'm pretty sure I know which company it was you were at, but I'm positive it wasn't mine.

Thanks so much for this, as now when my company is googled, this will be one of the first items to show up.

From ripoffreport.com: "As is our policy, we never remove reports even when they are claimed to contain defamatory statements, and even if the original author requests it." So, hopefully any individual choosing to research the business will read through and spot the rebuttal before they are mislead about how my company operates.

My only option at this point is to file a defamation lawsuit against the author themselves, as the site seems to be protected by the Communications Decency Act. I'd write this personally to you, but again, there is no record of you being in my office. Therefore I have no way to contact you personally, even the phone numbers listed in your name are disconnected. I guess if further action needs to be taken, we can go from there.
