Back on June the 5th of this year. I got hurt getting out of the truck. I tore my left calf muscle. I called my dispatcher to inform her of me getting hurt. She filed the report. On Sunday June the 7th I was sitting at the terminal in West Memphis, Arkansas I told them I was in so much pain I had to go and get it checked out that is when I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure. They made me wait 2 days at home before returning home, because I had to ride with another driver. When I got home I had a phone call from Schneider and they were asking me questions to see if they find a way to get out of paying me workman's compensation. They even ask me if I was wearing the Schneider approved footwear. And I told them I always wear the approved footwear they provide during orientation.

I was off of work for over 3 months due to the injury.I was looking out for everyone that travels down each interstate or highway. I did not want to have a heart attack or stroke behind the wheel and kill someone. So as soon as I got released from the doctor's care. I called the employer and mentioned to them that my blood pressure would not stay regulated to drive, and that would not be able to return to work this was on the 24th of September 2009. They called me today and said they were terminating my employment. I did not understand how they can say they were terminating my employment when I had already quit. That did not make any sense. If there is any truck drivers out there seeing this. Stay clear of this company they will do you wrong.

I was warned by friends they would try to terminate me after I got released from the doctor. And now they want to tarnish my record because they had to pay me while I was off hurt. There is medical documentation to prove that I tore my calf muscle the orthopedic surgeon said that MRI revealed that the calf muscle is torn. Please the only way to get the word out to everyone that may be interested in working for these people to stay clear of them. I finally wised up and went on to continue my education so this does not happen again. If there is any truck drivers out there seeing this. Stay clear of this company they will do you wrong. I was warned by friends they would try to terminate me after I got released from the doctor. And they did. I truly believe it was over them paying me while I was off of work due to an injury. They will treat you dirty. I wished there was some other way to find out if I can get the word out throughout the internet about these people.

I'm very sorry to hear about your injury and quitting/release.  I've been with SN for many years, and several years ago, I was injured myself.  My experience was totally the opposite of yours, as everyone from Occ Health to my STL (before they were DBL's) were very helpful and accomodative.  I honestly could not have asked for more from the people at Schneider, and the insurance program was literally a life-saver.  Over $50,000 in bills, and it cost me less than $1500.  However, your situation was unfortunately totally different, and I'm sorry about that.  I was out for only about 1.5 month, not 3 months--and I don't have high blood pressure.  I suspect that this--high blood pressure--is probably the issue here, honestly, as that is a DOT thing, and SN will use that against you because the DOT will use that against them.  You might have heard, also, about the new CSA 2010 regulations will likely force many drivers with high blood pressure (and other ailments like sleep apnea) out of the truck entirely.  Unfortunately, your calf injury might make you incapable of performing the part of the DOT physical where you have to stretch your toes up to the ceiling.  I don't know enough about your situation to say either way who's right, but I can see both sides.  As for them terminating you after you say you'd already quit--that's clearly NOT right, and there was obviously either a failure to communicate your call to your DBL, or it was deliberately ignored.  It could be either, and that's why these things are always best done in writing.  For your future experience, you'll want to send in your resignation by registered mail (even a fax is better than a phone call, ask that you have someone sign it and fax it back).  But that's water under the bridge, so what you need to do now is immediately is get a copy of your DAC report from HireRight.  You can search the net for "DAC hireright" and you'll find thier address--they are required to give you a copy of you DAC every twelve months if you ask for it.  You need to review it and make sure there is no inaccurate information on there, including that SN "terminated" you.  I suggest that you do this because if you are able to get your health situation repaired and you'd like to return to the truck, you need to make sure that SN does not put "terminated" down on your DAC, as this will make it harder to find another company.  You can challenge inaccurate information on the DAC through HireRight--but good luck.  You HAVE to start early, as the more time passes, the less responsive anyone is to corrections.  Also, I would suggest contacting more people within SN to get the "termination" changed to "quit."  Finally, no matter what happens with SN or anyone else, you have to focus on your health.  Your health is first and foremost, and don't let this situation with SN (or anything else, really) get under your skin.  It sounds like you might be ready to move on to other things, and that's probably best for you.  Again, I'm sorry about your bad experience at SN, because I have had a great ride here.

I hope you feel better.  By the way, who is now paying for your health bills related to the injury and your other health expenses--are you on COBRA?
