They should be ashamed

AUTHOR: Rick5922 - (USA)

They can say what ever they wish, They State investigation stated that basically it was they word against ours and we could provide no proof. At the end of the day they have to go to sleep at night knowing that they are lying, cheating and stealing from people when they are the most vulnerable. As I stated in my previous reports. I don't want this kind of sobriety and it will be short lived in my experience. I sleep well at night knowing that I tried to do the right thing by reporting these scam artists. Don't believe me, read other reports about their behavior. Thank GOD for the 8th tradition.

False Allegations...

AUTHOR: SRC STAFF - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 23, 2012

To Whom It May Concern:

For anyone interested in the TRUTH, please contact The Arizona Board of Health Examiners and ask them about this situation. Our license # is BH-3813. There was an investigation regarding this case and not only were we cleared of any wrong doings, we were praised by the State of Arizona. They voted in our favor saying the claim had no basis of reality. Again, if you seek the truth about our program, go to the source, the organization which governs us, and ask them directly. This person has been slandering our company and making up false allegations out of pure resentment. It's really unfortunate..

Not in recovery? The Founder and Co-Owner of Scottsdale Recovery Center started this treatment center with the sole intent to help people get sober. He has over five and a half years clean and sober and his life revolves around being of service to others. One day at a time he continues to be an inspiration to those seeking sobriety.

It's even more unfortunate that the stories and testimonials of hundreds of people who we've gotten sober and are now living phenomenal lives because of our program are being "pushed down" below these false, slandering allegations.

PLEASE, call the state and seek the truth. For those who want recovery and sobriety and are willing to do whatever it takes for it, Scottsdale Recovery Center is the place for you. For those who don't, well, honestly, there are many other programs out there that will gladly take your money and allow you to stay in their program. Half measures avail us nothing, and if you want to change your life and are willing to put in the work, give us a call. We are in the business of helping others recover from their addictions, and we are very passionate about recovery and sobriety...If you want help, we are here for you. Thank you. Scottsdale Recovery Center.

They are just making stuff up!!!

Their rebuttal is totally false. They are under investigation by Humana. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the state of AZ. They are lying about the time frame. Included is a time line of what took place.

The following is a timeline on what occurred regarding the treatment for alcoholism for my wife Amy P.

The week of August 6th Amy expressed a desire to obtain treatment for Alcoholism. She arranged for treatment with a company called:
Scottsdale Recovery Center
10427 N. Scottsdale Rd. #200
Scottsdale, AZ 85253
Email: info@scottsdalerecovery.com
Phone: (888) 309-3385
Amy arranged for treatment and I agreed to pay the copay of $1,950. I spoke with Mr. Alex S. about my wife's treatment that week and he told me that Amy's Insurance plan with Humana would cover 80% of the cost and that they needed the copay before she could begin treatment.

Subsequently my wife was checked into treatment on August 14th 2012. I paid the $1,950 with my debit card on the 14th of August. Alex called me on August 20th to tell me that humana was denying coverage. He said that they were investigating this and not to worry that Insurance companies denied claims many times and that they were going to fight it but he wanted to give me a heads up.

He called again on or about the 24th to tell me that Medicare wanted to transfer Amy to an approved facility in Mesa. I said that this would no be a good idea since Scottsdale Recovery was her program of Choice. He said that they would continue to fight with the Insurance company(Humana and Medicare) but that I needed to pay an addtional $2300 to cover Amy's cost for 30 days.  I told Alex about my plan to pay for the additional treatment on Monday 8-27-2012 and told him that the check would fund Tuesday of Wednesday , 8-28 or 8-29 and that I would receive the check probably no later than Tuesday 9-4-2012. I received the check Friday 8-31-2012.

On Thursday 8-30-2012 Amy and I met at an AA meeting with her housemates and the house manager Karen of the home where she was living. After the meeting Karen told us and showed us a text from the program director of Scottsdale Recovery Liza S. that stated that unless we paid the balance on Amy's account by 7pm that evening Amy would be discharged from treatment at Scottsdale Recovery. I called Liza and told her of my plans for payment with her brother Alex. I also was outraged that Liza, a purported mental health professional, would make such a threat. Amy's brother died from the disease two months prior. This is a life threatening disease. She said she knew nothing of the arrangement and that she would have Alex call me right away, that Thursday evening 8-30-2012. I left two voice messages that evening with Alex and never received any calls.

He called me on late Friday afternoon 8-31. I expressed my displeasure with the handling of the entire manner especially with the involvement with my wife in the insurance problems and the payment arrangements. My wife needed the focus on her recovery and any mental health professional would know not to cause undue stress on their patients, especially threats of discharge. I told Alex that Amy wanted to leave treatment because of the way things were being handled. She had lost trust in their(Scottsdale Recovery's) desire to try and help her. She felt that they were just interested in payment. I spoke with Amy and she decided to stay as long as we did not have to pay them any additional money, but she was actively looking for another option.

The behavior of Scottsdale Recovery caused me to have doubts about their legitimacy. I saw Amy on 9-2-2012 and she signed a consent form so I could investigate the problem myself with Humana. I spoke with Humana on Tuesday 9-4-2012(Jenn). Jenn told me that all conversations are recorded. She told me that Humana had never received any contact from Scottsdale Recovery Center or Billing Solutions(Scottsdale Recovery's insurance liaison according to Alex). They said Scottsdale Recovery and/or Billing Solutions had never even tried to obtain pre-authorization. She told me that they would put the matter under investigation. REF#553377262012. She also suggested I contact Life Synch(Humana's behavioral health contractor) and make sure that they had never been contacted. I contacted Life Synch (866-376-2901) on 9-5-2012(Crystal I) and (Tavani S.) and they told me that no one from Scottsdale Recovery Center or Billing Solutions had ever been in contact with Life Synch regarding any matter including any preauthorization or benefits for Amy P. I confirmed this with Life Synch again 0n 9-6-2012(Fran M).

I emailed Alex on Wednesday Sept 5 the following:

> > Alex,
> > I contacted Humana yesterday and LifeSynch today and they told me that they have no record of any pre-authorization and no record of any claim on file on behalf of Amy P. for Scottsdale Recovery Center. They told me they have no record of any contact with your company in regards to my wife Amy P. Can you explain why you are telling me that Humana approved the 80% coverage and then told you they were denying coverage when Humana has absolutely no record of this claim or pre-authorization?

And his reply and my reply to him:

---- Alex S wrote:
> We use a company called billing solutions . They do our billing and call in our claims. I had told you that several times.

After I sent these emails their behavior with my wife became increasingly confrontational. They said that would no longer be able to deal with me and they would deal only with her in regards to her insurance and treatment payments. Yesterday Liza called Amy out of her group and asked her to sign a bunch of papers and told her that she was going to be transferred to another facility(Valley Hospital). Amy told them she would not sign anything before speaking with me. We arranged for Amy to check out of Scottsdale Recovery. Alex lied to me in my opinion to try and obtain full payment for their services. It was always their intention to obtain payment from us and for whatever reason they never intended to deal with Amy's Insurance company. They are taking advantage of people when they are at their most vulnerable. I suspect that they are not accredited and that no insurance will cover their services. They say that they are licensed on their website. Who are they licensed by? We would like to take whatever steps necessary to insure that this type of thing does not happen to anyone else. It has also come to our attention that they are doing many unnecessary drug tests. They also have promised other patients that their insurance companies would reimburse the patients after they paid the money up front but their patients have never heard from their insurance company. I believe this is NOT an isolated case. I believe that this company is taking advantage of many other present and past patients and their families. We want to try and bring this to a halt. I'm trying to get the names of other patients so we can get this company to stop taking advantage of people. They say they are in recovery, well it's been my experience that when you are lying and cheating others that your sobriety is tenuous at best and probably non-existent.

These guys are LIARS

AUTHOR: carmela - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Scottsdale Recovery Center is NOT all about the addict.  Just because the owner is a former addict doesn't mean he wants to help.  All it means to me is he knows how desperate familys get to help their loved ones and he is there to take their money.  They don't help the addict, they help their own pocket book.

Scottsdale Rocovery, also known as Sober Living and Sober Group, doesn't even own the homes they put their clients in.

These guys are LIARS, LIARS, LIARS.  If you think you want to stay in one of their homes, have them put ALL THEIR LIES in WRITING.

First of all, the Founder and Co-Owner of the company IS in recovery and sober for many years now. His passion and commitment, as well as the mission of the entire organization, is to help the still suffering alcoholic and addict get and stay sober, PERIOD.

In this particular incident, the individual originally provided us with partial information regarding her private insurance. Based on the information she had given us, our billing department approved her. Upon intake, she provided us with the actual insurance card which clearly showed it was linked to a public insurance provider. We do not accept this type of insurance for treatment. We immediately notified her husband that based on this new information, we would not be able to admit her, as her insurance would not cover her. She was notified within 48 hours of her arrival but her husband insisted on us letting her stay, and told us he would private pay. The deductible we collected covered her for two of the three weeks she stayed with us. The last 5 days she was with us at no charge.

We are not under investigation by anybody.

Thank you

Scottsdale Recovery Center
