After living with an interest-only loan for a few years and struggling a bit at times, I did my research to try and figure out a way to make things more manageable while paing on my home.  I talked to my mortgage broker, who I trust, and he basically said that I fall in the middle class window where there are no options for me.  I wasn't eligible for any government programs and missing payments wasn't something I was comfortable doing.  It was frustrating to see people around me getting these incredibly low rates by missing payments, etc.  I was hopeing there was something for me.

Scovis Law Group contacted me in February of 2010.  I was extremely skeptical and was actually rude to them on the phone, but the guy I initially talked to offered to do a "forensic audit".  Michael McDevitt contacted me a few days later and agreed that I was not eligible for any program.

However, he said that his company employed former bank employees that worked in the loan modification departments.  He told me they knew how to best present a person's case to their lender to achieve a workout plan.  He told me to expect a workout that would save me $800 per month.  He also told me that "If Scovis did not successfully get me a workout plan, there was a 100% money back guarantee."  I asked him what his definition of successful was, and he said, a plan that satisfied me.  I only found positive things on-line about Michael McDevitt and saw that he was supposedly some kind of loan modification guru.

I asked my trusted mortgage broker about this idea of using Scovis to help us get better terms on our mortgage and told him of what they said they were able to do.  He told me to be careful of scams, but that if I really wanted to get better terms, lenders were really only negotiating with groups like these.  He said it was a very difficult process for an individual who didn't know how to navigate the negotiation process with their lender.

Needless to say, I went for it.  I borrowed the money I needed for the one time , up front fee of $3840 that was 100% guaranteed and sent it off in March 2010 with all of the paperwork that Sovis asked for.  In the beginning, they were very accomodating and service oriented, but withing a few monthes, I was hearing nothing from them.  My e-mail were not returned and I was told to be patient.  I e-mailed once a month to get an update, which they would rarely provide.  My inquiries were usually met with, "send us a copy of your last two paychecks".  If I didn't initiate contact, I doubt there would have been any.

In The fall of 2010, I received an e-mail from Isabelle Maadi who was supposedly on my case.  She sent me an e-mail saying that after all of my paperwork was looked at by my lender, it was found that I was not elligible for any government programs.  As if I hadn't know that 8 months earlier.  There was no talk of Scovis having actually negotiated anything.  She said that they were still reviwieng my case for other options.  A week or two later, I got another e-mail and document in the mail that Scovis changed their name to Audit-Processing.

Within a month or two (December 2010) I started receiving letters from my lender asking for certain documentation.  I sent the documentation through Scovis because I signed a contract int he beginning saying i wouldn't talk to my lender and that I would send everything to them trhough Scovis as to not compromise any negotiations.  I e-mailed Scovis, sent them a copy of the letter from my lender, and documentation that was asked for.  The letter from my lender said that if they didn't receive the documentation by a certain date, then they would stop reviewing my case.

Scovis did not send the papers in by the requested date.  By January of 2011, my lender was calling me, trying to verify our income, expenses, etc. (all documented, updated, and sent to Scovis).  I told them under contract I was not supposed to discuss any of that with them and that Scovis was representing me.  They told me to tell Scovis to call them.  I e-mailed and phoned Scovis dozens of times for at least two weeks without a reply.  I was simply asking them to call my lender, which they refused to do.  Finally I talked to my lender myself, I removed Scovis and Audit-Processing from having authority to look at our accounts and I have been working with my lender myslef.  I have acomplished more in the last month than Scovis did in a year with my $3840.

The end result has been an unsuccessful attempt at a workout plan, and Scovis owes me money.  I have called and e-mailed them and have not heard back.  Michael McDevitt has changed his extension months ago and the e-mail address I have for him no longer works.  Isabelle Maadi refuses to reply to my e-mails or call me.  The only time she called was to stick up for Michael when I left a message about my hearing that Michael was on the run from the police (which I saw on-line).  She left a message saying that he is still there and working...however I haven't heard from him despite my many requests.

The bottom line is that he should be on the run.  Scovis did not simply fail to hold up their end of the contract that they drafted and I signed, they did not do anything they said they were going to do, and it is clear that I am owed the money that I initially paid under their 100% money back guarantee.  I hope to see tha money again so I can pay it back to those I borrowed it from.
