My husband and I went to Sears to sign up for their wedding registry. While at the store, no one knew how to help us, which should have been a sign for us not to sign up. Our wedding was October 14th, 2007.

Guests began calling me, telling me they were unable to sign into our online wedding registry. Those who couls sign in, were told that many items were either unavvailable or they simply couldn't purchase gifts because of issues with the websites.

We did, receive 3 our of 100+ registered items. They were mailed to us in a box that was falling apart and they came with no note. We have NO IDEA who sent us the gifts. Inside was an invoice...it shoud have read "Bill to:" the person who bought us a gift, and "ship to:" My husbands name and address. Instead, the "bill to" and "ship to," were both my husbands information. So, we don't know who sent us the gift, and are not able to send them a thank you note.

We called Sears, who was NOT at all helpful on the phone. they told us to go to the store, they have nothing to do with the registry.

So we went to the store. the employees were not helpful at all. even rude to me and my husband! They asked why we had come to the store because they also have nothing to do with the registry. We asked them who can help us fix our problem. the registry is not working, we got almost no gifts because their website was not working and we don't know who to send a thank you note to. They said, they are not allowed to tell us who bought the gifts because of their privacy law. All we wanted was to send a thank you note and they did nothing to help.

Their assistant store manager was rude to us, no customer service skills. And the store manager was even worse. he did nothing to help us, almost didn't even want to listen to us because according to him, "I'm really busy today." Everyone we spoke with a the store blamed someone else for what happened, all saying "We have nothing to do with the registry."

When we kept asking for them to give us someone to contact who could help us, they gave us a national sears number. those people also were no help.

One rep did tell us "We are merging with Kmart and are having computer problems, that's why you're guests couldn't get online to buy your gifts."

So Sears knows they are having computer problems, which affected our registry, yet still allowed us to not only sign up, buy have DONE NOTHING to correct our problem.

The store manager confirmed this. "Yes, we are merging and are having computer problems. You guys probably aren't the only ones having registry issues right now." So..again they know this is happening, have nothing to prevent problems and have done nothing to fix ours.

The store manager even told me "You are disrupting my office and are hostal." No customer service skills and extremly unprofessional, we have filed an officials complaint against David Skates. he is no good!

Because of sears. we were cheated out of getting wedding gifts from guests who couldn't buy them online. And Sears has done NOTHING to help us with the problem. knowing it was happening all along. We are furious!

That's Funny

"We were cheated out of our wedding gifts from guests who couldn't buy them online"."My husband and I did not get our wedding gifts". Do you ACTUALLY believe that the reason you didn't receive gifts was because sears online registry didn't work? That has to be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. Really, did you NOT receive gifts OR did you not receive the gifts you wanted? The few weddings I've been exposed to, the couples have registered at several different stores. I'll have to remember this one. I'll just tell the couple the registry wasn't wasn't working and blame the store. Too bad, too sad. Just another reason to hate s-mart.

If your guests couldn't log on to view your registry, why would that prevent them from buying, say, a gift card or giving cash. Seems like a lame excuse not to give a wedding gift.
