I had a loan with Security Finance and always mailed my payments and made sure to mail $25 extra each month as well. All of my payments were recieved on time with no problem except the last one. I called Security Finance on Thursday May 23rd to confrim my payoff amount and then I mailed them a check for that amount the same day. Normally when I mail them a payment one day it is recieved the next and cshed wihtin 2 days yet this time it was not. After checking my bank account 6 days later I saw that the check still had not cleared which was very odd. I called Security finance to inquire about my payment only to be told it had not been recieved.
Expressing my concern the lady on the phone asked the other workers if they had applied my payment and then told me they did'nt have it. Now I would be willing to believe this except for the fact that this exact same thing happened to me just a few years prior when I had a different loan with them and I can't help but feel they are purposely trashing or withholding my payment in an attempt to charge me late fees and more interest on my last payment. World finance did this exact same thing to me as well and you'd think by now I would learn to mail my final payment with delivery confirmation! Its just sad these finance companies stoop to this kind of behavior just to make a few extra bucks.

Use delivery confirmation folks!

This only happens when its the final payment I am mailing and this is also the ONLY time I have ever had ANY mail get lost. If it were the USPS's fault then I find it hard to believe and a bit more than a coinsidence that other payments were not lost or other mail I have mailed as well instead of just the final payments I made with 3 seperate loans to these companies! One with World finance and 2 with Security Finance. I am posting this to possibly save others the same experience by suggesting that if they mail their final payment they learn from my mistakes and use delivery confirmation to avoide be charged additional interest or fees.

You stated your opinion as they indeed received that payment but are hanging onto it just to collect a late charge and increased interest. You then went on to say several years ago the same thing happened and that payment as well was kept off the books for the express purpose of generating fees and interest. Additionally, you stated you mailed both payments.
In both cases the variable is the USPS. How do you know they DID receive the payment? How do you know...for a fact...the USPS isn't at fault here? You don't! If, as you allege, there is some sort of conspiracy to generate fees and interest, then why hasn't it been done a bit more regulary? And before you accuse me also, I don't work for them!
