SHELLSHELL, Petro Pantry #5 After stopping my pump; it jumped up five (5) cents. It charged me five cents more than I got. San Antonio Texas
*UPDATE Employee: 5 cents :P
*Consumer Comment: If this were an old mechanical pump and you held the nozzle open while you turned off the pump
I was filling up and when I let go of the pump and was putting it back in its little hanger; the pump jumped five(5) cents more. Why? I kept the reciet for further inspection as far as gallons/price is. Thank you for listening.

I work as a cashier every 6 months get state people not company own to adjust the pumps. no employee knows how to adjust gas per dollar amount. stuff happens live with it. machines needs tweeking every now and then. most likely was gas filling up the hose.

it is possible the pump residual pressure refilled the gas hose with 5 cents of gas [less than 3 oz) after you put the nozzle back.
Any gas pump of semi-recent vintage should not do this. The pump pressure-sensing nozzle shuts off as soon as the pump stops.
You can look for a weights & measures sticker & call them. The pump may have an ID number displayed.
