ship america is a huge ripoff. it starts out as you search the classified ads online for used motorcycles. listed in different web sites you will find examples of nice bikes for a low price, ie the one we wanted, a 2005 honda cbrr 1000 for $2400, shipping included.
the name of the seller came across as nathan mally and it stated that he is an oil rig engineer that had to move to alaska for his job and thus left the bike behind as he could not transport it or use it there. he said he entrusted it to a shipping company called ship-american and that the shipping costs would come out of the $2400. he emailed me and gave me a tracking number and a site in which to reference the pictures of the bike, at which time i promptly looked them up.
the company offers no contact information, only an email questionare that is never returned. upon location of the bike at ship-american.com using the tracking number provided, it stated the bike was in custody, in good condition and ready to ship. they then require that you register and give your personal info, and then they tell you that you need to send a western union with the full amount of your payment to london, which they state is their headquaters. after you recieve an email confirming payment is complete, they state your bike will be delivered to your door within 72 hours.
once you recieve the payment confirmation, if you look your tracking number up again, it shows that no item exists and that the number is invalid. then you can look online again at different classified sites and find the same bike with the same pictures, the same listing, but a different persons name (even the same story about moving to Alaska) and never recieve your bike, your money back, or any response at all from the seller name or ship american. what a good birthday present that made for my husband.
