ShopNBC Do NOT buy a TV from snake oil salesmen! Bloomington Hills Minnesota

Like Frank and Beth,I too thought ShopNBC was a reputable firm so I bought a 32" LCD Avion flat panel television. Apparently, it is a piece of garbage. We have had the TV for about 2 1/2 years.

When a fan burned out, my husband was lucky enough to find one online and replaced it. This time, the problem is much worse. When we turn on the TV, the "on" light flickers, the picture comes on for a second, and then it's gone.

I have called ShopNBC for help; they had no idea what product I was talking about. I called back--no help that time either. Finally, I called and threatened to go the the Better Business Bureau and file a report with the State Attorney General. That got me the phone # for Protron, the maker of the set.

I called Protron, got someone whose English was very poor, and the whole mess started all over again. "Call back in a month." "Oh, who told you that?" "We don't make those TVs any more."

I just called a local repairman with 40 years of experience. He groaned and told me to prepare myself for the fact that the main circuit board, which is poorly made in these off-brand electronics, would probably cost me 60% of the TV's price (= $!,300)IF I could find one.

Not only will I not shop at ShopNBC any longer, I want to encourage everyone who has been burned by them to contact the national Better Business Bureau and file a report.
