I am another victim of Shopping Essentials. The company charged my credit card with a 'membership fee' after I purchased an item from another company, Vista Print or Vitacost (vitamin store). I don't remember exactly which one, but watch out for both if you purchase from these two online stores. After purchasing from these two online stores, without your consent, Shopping Essentials will use your credit card number if you just click one of their links or buttons without notifying you have already started your "trial period" with the company.

I was charged for Oct. and Nov. and I discovered the charges after I checked my charges early December. I quickly called the company, 1-888-999-0564,to dispute my charges and I was told they would credit back the charges in full. This is how I did it without having to be rude to the employee and supervisor.

1. The earlier you call the better the chances they will credit back everything in full. I have read on this website people finding out their accounts have been charged the "membership fee" for almost a year and it's too late to get full credit back. When I called, I mentioned I was within 60 days, so they didn't give me the "too late" lecture.

2. Be persistent! I had to call twice and withhold my anger while speaking the second time. Get your pencil and paper ready because the reps. will provide you their names and confirm numbers. If the reps. don't budge or the conversation is getting nowhere, ask to speak to a supervisor. Explain your dispute calmly and succinct. I talked to an Indian guy (Amesh?) and Bill.

3. The first time, Amesh, the supervisor, told me he could credit back Nov. but not Oct. I was insulted with this offer and I asked nicely to talk with another person. He said no and then gave me some address to file a claim. (Smoke-screen tactic). I said I am not interested, but he wouldn't budge. I hanged up and called again to reach another rep. and supervisor. This time, Bill, was friendlier to talk with. I told him my case politely without raising my voice and he said both charges will be credited back. I thanked him because he was polite and didn't give me the, "This is policy vomit".

I will update this post after I confirm if my account has received the credit in full. Thanks for everybody posting and suggesting how to dispute the charges. I couldn't have done it without this forum.
