BEWARE - UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES by SIGNQUEST, Hawthorne, CA location

I was hired by SignQuest General Manager Shawn B. to do graphic design & production work in 2015. I met with Shawn approx 5 times at their Hawthorne office (formerly on Cerise Ave.) I designed and submitted hi-res print-ready files for an urgent up-coming trade show for one of their repeat customers. Graphic direction was changed numerous times which entailed much time invested on my part. Professional print-ready hi-res image and vector files were presented to them via upload exchange.

When I submitted my invoice for payment (once monthy for several months), I was continually ignored by both GM Shawn & SQ owner Ramy Baramily. I eventually sent a 'final notice' after waiting 4 months for payment. This prompted a very aggressive and dismisive worded email from Ramy B. accusing me of sending him a 'made up invoice' -as he called it. He said that he would not pay because he did not authorize the work and it is HIS company!

Wow, I was quite shocked by his unprofessionalism. Besides the fact that his GM had indeed 'ordered the work', Ramy had also been in the office every single time that I stopped in.

I was refused payment for the work and in fact, I was never paid.

I found several photos on Instagram clearly showing several large scale printed banner/wall graphics using MY design/art files. Neither Shawn or Ramy had acknowledged to using the art. (Although that is beside the point, the work used or un-used would be PAID because it was indeed -ordered.)

The point being -- SQ obviously collected handsomely on the job but refused to pay me for my time & talent investment. I spent many hours completing the design & production work and gave them a very reasonable rate.

Ramy refused payment for a completely bogus reason, which is nothing short of thievery. I was 100% RIPPED OFF. Thank you for your site that can warn others of dealing with dishonest people & companies. I made the decsion NOT to sue in Small Claims Court because I have NO DOUBT that I would win but this man would still NEVER pay. I would only waste more of my valuable time. Instead, I will warm others of the type of character that owns this business.

I recommend you do not use SignQuest and instead, find a trustworthy & honest sign company.
