I meet this young man through a Craigslist ad, we agreed to meet at a local coffee shop to discuss the project he needed done. I knew it was in the adult industry and his ad stated "Cash on completion of task" as he lked me to believe it was almost done and just needed a little more work done.

After looking over the project he had in mind, I decided it was going to be major, so I renegotiated our contract to be paid in 10 hour blocks.

After billing him for the first 10 hours, he became elusive and said he would deposit a check into my bank, he wanted all my info, SS, Bank Numbers, Copy of my Drivers License. This did not make sence to me and I begain to get suspisious. After a few hours of emails and Skype conversations, he finally came out and said in an email "So as you are being pushy on payment. I am feeling apprehensive. So I am going to go back to my original plan which is to pay when the entire project is done ."

After which I responded telling him we would not do anymore work on the site until the balance was paid, which by now is at 16 hours. The way he wanted to do it, would have left me 25 to 30 hours in the red.

So, he changed my password so I could not get back on the site to work on it or revert back to the code that was there before I began.

I get the feeling he was trying to get this site built ripping off small programmers like myself and not pay them for as many hours as he could get the to do before they caught on to his deceit as there was evidence that other had worked on it previously.

Dear Jeff Coldwell

AUTHOR: nguyenjustin - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 09, 2012

According to you, I've cheated you out of your work hour. But please if you can refer to my ad, and tell me that you did exactly what I asked you to do, then I would be happy to compensate you for your work.... None of your code was used in my project. Every single code was rewritten and erased.

on 2012-07-13, 11:51AM EDT i posted a craigslist ad.  and this is what my ad specifically said word for word:

"I am hiring local phpdeveloper. And need that person to work side by side with me in person. We can meet at a coffee shop or a beer bar. I will direct you on what needs to be done.

yes there is pay in this gig. Cash once job is done. "

Now did i say anywhere that i would pay before the job was done? Did I tell you anywhere in the ad that the product was almost finished? I said my website is almost finished, not the amount of work that you had to do is almost done. I just asked for a developer to work for me and do as i directed in person.

Where did you do the work? At home ? That's not what my ad asked? Didn't you have partner with you when  i asked for the information about the social security or EIn number so i can file tax? That's nothing out of the ordinary to ask.  In any job that you enter and working for a company they will ask for your company information. And I also told you in person that I was going to reciprocate it and provide you with my ID. I told you that if the work that was perform was over a specify amount of hours, and i had to pay you over a certain amount of money govern by the statue of the state of florida, i would  have to file tax.

Now please understand that you and your partner is over 45 each, and I am  only a young lad. How can I cheat two people that are older than me. I agree to give you the job and will pay you in cash when you finish. Not when you ask to be paid.

again, none of your code was used. this case is closed
