I visited the Persian rug store because I had an expensive all natural silk rug that needed cleaning. The manager/owner came to my house and picked up my rug for cleaning and offered to clean a second rug he spotted in my living room. He left with the 2 rugs and a few days later I was called and told that the store manager/owner wanted the larger of my 2 rugs. I was told that in exchange I could pick out any 2 new rugs in the whole store, any 2. I told the woman, who I believe was the manager/owners wife, that I was not interested. I got a second call from a man from the store asking the same thing and again I said no. The next phone call I received was asking me if I would like the rugs to be wrapped in heavy brown paper for protection. Duh, I said yes. The 2 rugs were delivered to my house wrapped in heavy brown paper as agreed. I was happy and the man was very nice, so I paid him the $300. in cash for cleaning my rugs. ---Without even checking the rugs, as I was sure this was a reputable rug dealer/store, I put them both into storage where they sat for about 4 years. - When I opened the 2 rugs, I discovered that I had been swindled, as the rugs were not mine. They were 2 old and dirty cheap Chinese polyester/cotton rugs. This was about 2 years ago, I felt helpless and stupid and was sure I could not prove my case. I have since called the store after reading that the manager/owner named Saeid Maralan went to prison for raping customers. The phone calls to the woman at the store, who I was told was Saeid Maralans wife, were futile.
