I have been visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain for 13 years. However, over the last few years the park went downhill. Somehow the current management seems to have strange priorities. Instead of keeping people happy and making them return, they rip and piss people off.

The last few times I have been there, about half of their roller-coasters have been down: either due to technical problems or for maintenance. What makes matters even worse is, that the rest of the rides aren't operating at full capacity. Therefore wait times often are 2 3 hours. In my opinion the current management is completely incompetent and should be fired immediately! It isn't worth going to Six Flags Magic Mountain any more!!!

Six Flags Magic Mountain is on its last leg.

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 15, 2006

I first went to Magic Mountain (before Six Flags bought it) back in the early 70s. We used to call it Tragic Mountain becuase of (rumored?) deaths there. It was a decent place when it first opened.

According to Wikipedia, Magic Mountain is one of 5 SF parks slated for sale or closure.

I guess all the maintenance in the world isnt going to help!

six flags

AUTHOR: M (FlyingScooter) - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 15, 2006

The problem is the chain itself. They acquired more parks than they can handle.

Several years ago, Six flags was bought-out by Premier amusements. (this is when Geauga Lake in Ohio became Six Flags Worlds of Adventure)
The following year, they aquired SeaWorld ohio.
Three years later, they sold the entire SFWOA to Cedar Fair for a huge loss.

Six flags plans on selling another 6 parks in the future. When They were in Ohio, the service was horrible. The Staff were rude and faily unfriendly.

maintenance

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 02, 2006

I agree that maintenance is necessary in order to guarantee the safety of everybody. However, it should be done while the park is closed, which means at night or during the winter season.

If any ride is down for more than 3 - 5% of the time, they should have the manufacturer fix it or even return it. If your car is down all the time, you would take it to the dealer and have them fix it or return it as a lemon.

In my opinion, Six Flags Magic Mountain should do the same with their ride.

The OP is right

AUTHOR: Nate - (U.S.A.)

The last time I visited Six Flags Magic Mountain was over 5 years ago and I still remember quite clearly how disappointed me and my entire group were at the appaling service, ridiculous wait times, and the many "We apologize for the inconvenience, but this attraction is..." I don't even need to finish that sentence.

As for Peter in "Pony", I wouldn't think that you would be familiar with any amusement parks. To my knowledge they don't accept food stamps for admission.

Six Flags is on its last legs.

AUTHOR: Ben - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 02, 2006

Six Flags Magic Mountain has been on its last financial legs for quite awhile now. Even tho I have not lived near there for almost 5 years, I still have friends in the area and visit quite often. Much comming out of the rumor mill these days pertains to talk about its eventual closure. Even when I still lived near there, there was much talk and stories of horrid service. Lack of security, lack of customer appriciation, etc. seem to be the norm.

While I do agree with the one post about maintenance being a good thing. One can only wonder why so many are down so often. If I were the GM of that park and saw near half of my biggest draws down for "technical" or "maintenace" issues, I would be demanding that my head of maintenance show himself before me and explain in detail why it was happening. Maintenance is good, but ongoing chronic maintenence needs shows a deeper problem.

I think the OP has a legitimate gripe. With the sheer cost of going to one of these parks these days, as a paying customer, they have every right to show their feelings about large number of rides being down. I can understand that there simply just are "bad days" and Murphy's Law bites hard sometimes creating situations beyond anyones control. But as the original OP stated, he has been going to this park for quite a few years and the problem persists, and continues to decline. My experience with the park, along with what I have heard lately from friends in the area, is that....yes....this park has issues. Its a real shame too, it was such a nice park. And it was the one of the only ones for the "older" crowd to goto when they are not in the mood for the more child oriented Disneyland.

Question ..

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 02, 2006

So the coasters are closed because of "technical problems" or because they are in need of "maintenance." To that I say, GOOD!!! Would you rather they keep such dangerous rides open when they are not in working order, simply so that YOU can enjoy them? I personally would not want to be riding a roller coaster that has code violations or other issues which would deem its necessary closure.
