Well, where do I start. This company is a complete joke. They lied to me on every level that is possible. The owner (DAVE CONES) is such a lying salesman. He will say anything to get your money. The merchandise I got is not what I paid for. I had it delivered and it was damaged as was my home after the smelly guy that delivered my furniture got done with it. When I went back to get something resolved, he told my I had CAUSED THE DAMAGE, and I just didnt know my product as the items i revieved were what i paid for. He told me to go to hell and that there were always other people out there to sucker, he didnt need my repeat business. ......all this after i spent 8000.00 in that place. They are crooks from the word go and anyone who does business with them is foolish...do yourself a favor and save some trouble.....take my word for it.

Dear Mr. Sales Rep,


I certainly hope you have the ripoff report set to email you when something has been posted, because this is for you.


Are you still selling to Dave Cones?  Or did he drop your line(s) because, as I mentioned above, he runs hot and cold?  My guess is...you still have his business.  He, just like you, does not pay attention to what people are saying (writing).  Everything is secondary to what he is thinking at the time.  Just like he really doesn't care what people are saying, you didn't care what I had written.  Allow me to explain... 


Mr. Sales Rep, you claimed that I jumped when an employment ad was run.  Let me ask you, sir, do you know of any small, independent furniture stores that will run an employment ad for sales staff 120 miles away?  You see, moron, I stated that I moved to Mtn. Home, AR from Springfield, MO because I was RECRUITED by Dave Cones to work in this new store.  I wasn't swarming at the mention of an employment ad, idiot.  Oh, and if you did your homework, you would know that Sleep Mart didn't run an employment ad before opening.  Perhaps if you weren't so much like David Cones, and you actually read and processed what I had written, you wouldn't have made a fool of yourself by claiming things that simply aren't true. 


HMMM...claiming things that aren't true....sounds familiar....oh, that's right........ DAVE CONES!!! 


And as far as your claim that he has expanded his operation to 3 stores, and this doesn't happen without taking care of the customers, the deep pockets of Fred E. had alot to do with this expansion.  Rent-A-Center has lousy customer service, yet, they've got a sh*tload of stores don't they, Mr. Sales Rep?  Alot of hard work by KEVIN, WES, ME, and BOB had alot to do with the expansion you mentioned above.  Alot of covering for Dave's propensity to lie, by the 4 of us, also had alot to do with this expansion.   


Mr. Sales Rep, you stated that Dave Cones has made trips to your facility to pick up product that has been sold.  Let me ask you....did he have to do this because he opened his mouth and promised something to a customer, in which, the timing just wasn't possible?  I have no idea which furniture manufacturer you represent.  I don't know the specifics, nor reasons, why David Cones needed to make a special trip to your location.  I do know that this is quite out-of-the-ordinary, as you stated in your post.  Since other retailers don't feel the need to make these arrangements, won't people read between the lines and see something is amiss with Sleep Mart and David Cones?     


You see, Mr. Sales Rep, I'm sure you are well-versed on the innerworkings of Sleep Mart.  However, you don't know me at all.  I am also attuned to how Sleep Mart and David Cones work.  Is it possible that you began writing your little tirade before you had all the facts in hand?  You made wild claims about me that are untrue, and that  -my friend- pisses me off.  Everything I wrote in my post is completely true.  Not a single word of it was fabricated.  I certainly hope you get to see the side of David Cones that alot of people have seen.  Not only have we seen it, we despise it. 


I'm done talking to you, Mr. Sales Rep.


For those, who are potential Sleep Mart customers, reading this....


Please try to make your furniture purchases elsewhere.  If you go to FFO....take their price, multiply it by .49, then take that number and divide by .58 to get their lowest price.   


Unfortunately, I'm not sure of how the other stores in your area conduct their pricing and discounts.


If you must purchase something at Sleep Mart.....take their price, multiply it by .45, then take that number and divide by .62 to get their lowest price.  Don't take "no" for an answer.  On something priced $1000, the new price will be $725.  They will discount anything, all you have to do is ask.  But, please, shop around and do your best to avoid giving David Cones any of your hard-earned money.

I am am the Sales Representative for one of Sleep Mart's largest suppliers. I have to say how dissapointed and suprised I am at the comments posted here. Sleep Mart has always pushed their sales people, and vendors to provide superior service than any local furniture store.

David has made numerous trips out of state to personally pick-up merchandise from my company and I am sure others to satisfy a customer who needed their merchandise faster than normal delivery would allow. Many times it was due to a salesperson who made an honest mistake when checking inventory. I have only ever worked with a handful of accounts who would rather take their own time to correct the situation, rather than tell the customer to simply wait several weeks for merchandise.

I can only assume from the comments posted here that a few of the people who David hired initially ( you know the type that swarm anytime an employment ad is run ) just were not Sleep Mart material, and by the language used you fully understand they are no longer there.

It has been a privilege working with David, Fred and the managers of his growing business. Sleep Mart has grown from 1 Location in Mountain Home, AR to 3 Locations- now including West Plains, MO and Springfield, MO. This type of sustained growth does not happen for businesses that do not take care of their number one asset. THE CUSTOMER.

This previous customer is absolutely correct. I believe I may be the former employee the owner is assuming posted those comments. I didn't, however I couldn't agree more with his/her comments.

As a former employee, I can speak first-hand on the nature of the minority-stake-owner (David Cones). Folks, he is a snake in the grass. He is a liar. If everyone reading this is willing to call a spade a spade, then there is no other definition for David Cones than liar.

I do not find it hard to believe that he bilked this person out of $8000. I have seen David Cones treat customers horribly. I was the sales associate for a customer, who shall remain anonymous, which purchased a bunkbed. This customer wanted the bunkbed in the manufacturer's packaging. Unfortunately, we only had the floor model left. David Cones promised this customer the bunkbed would show up in 7 days. When the time passed, the customer called back to see if the bunkbed had arrived. I placed the customer on hold to see if David knew when the bunkbed might arrive. David informed me that the products hadn't even been ordered yet. David instructed me to lie to the customer and tell him/her that the truck carrying the merchandise had been held up in Dallas, Tx. in an ice storm. I did as told, hey he was the boss, and told the customer we fully expect the bunkbed in another week. Well.....another week came and went without the bunkbed showing up. The customer called again, this time on my day off. David answered the phone, he lied again and said that the truck was held up in an ice storm in Houston, Tx. As you can imagine, the customer caught on to the different locations--Dallas and Houston--he/she came into the store demanding the truth. DAVID CONES LOOKED THE CUSTOMER DEAD IN THE EYE AND SAID, "WELL I TOLD YOU THE TRUTH." He emphasized the word "I" as if to insinuate that I had lied to the customer. I guess I did, per his instruction.

Another couple had a problem with their mattress they purchased from Sleep Mart after only 2 weeks of ownership. The mattress was sagging horribly. I went to the couple's home to see the severity of the problem. It was bad. As a seasoned furniture salesperson, I knew this was not normal. Something needed to be done. I invited the couple to come back to the store to see if there was a mattress they would like better. While in the store, David Cones wanted to know why they were shopping for another mattress. I explained the situation to him. He berated the customers in front of everyone in the store. He scolded them for not turning their mattress. He basically told the customer they were at fault. After David's tirade, I informed the customer to pick a different mattress, and I would bring the mattress to them as a sign of customer appreciation. In their home, I felt I couldn't apologize enough. These people had done nothing wrong, yet they were belittled by this arrogant s****.> He doesn't only treat his customers poorly, he treated my co-workers and I poorly. When David Cones recruited me to help open Sleep Mart in Mountain Home, Ar; I lived in Springfield, MO. He explained he would want me in Mountain Home on the Monday after Thanksgiving, 2007. David's plan was to open the store on December 15th. On Thanksgiving weekend, I packed my things, kissed my wife and kids goodbye, and moved to Mountain Home. I didn't receive a paycheck until January 9th, 2008. Folks, that's 6 weeks without a paycheck. I had a mortgage in Springfield and an apartment in Mountain Home. When I approached him about a paycheck, he shrugged me off like he does his customers. Another recruit cut a vacation cruise short to be in Mountain Home on December 15th. David Cones didn't pay him until January 9th either.

Folks, there are many, many stories like this from Sleep Mart. David Cones promised me a salary that never matriculated. David Cones promised me stock ownership that never came to fruition. David Cones promises, promises, promises; yet he never delivers.

Oh...by the way..."Greg" that has made many various purchases from Sleep Mart and hasn't experienced any bad customer service, is David Cones' best friend. The bar and stools that was ordered, didn't fit in his house. David Cones said, when Greg wasn't around, "He's gonna have to figure out what to do with it. We aren't gonna refund his money."

The rebuttals all mention the language used in the initial post. It is nothing compared to the filth David Cones uses. One of the original employees was, and I quote, "F-ing worthless." David fired this employee many times, then rehired him 2 minutes later. Folks, David Cones is runs hot and cold. His personality can turn on a dime. I'm not a doctor, therefore I won't wager any diagnosis.

I'm a disgruntled ex-employee. I didn't write the original thread. But I do agree with everything written there. DAVID CONES IS A LIAR WHO WILL SAY ANYTHING TO GET YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Sleep Mart Better Than Most Furniture Stores

Best personal service I've had at a retail store in Mountain Home Arkansas

I have shopped at just about every furniture store in Mountain Home, and have always been pleased with the service I have received at Sleep Mart. I've made purchases several times at Sleep Mart, including two beds, several chairs, a couple rugs and a large bar with stools (that had to be special ordered). Every purchase was completed promptly and without a hitch.

I have seen the rude remarks leveled at Sleep Mart placed on this site, but I find it HIGHLY unlikely that those stories are even remotely close to the truth. My experience with Sleep Mart has been that they are courteous, professional and always willing to help. It's unfortunate that their reputation can be slandered by someone with such disgusting language.

Its ashame what the business world has come too

It is a shame what the business world has come too and I dont know why i am responding to this report. The title alone and the language used is very unprofessinal and degrading not to the company but to the person writing this report. Sleepmart has went above and beyond treating every customer as if it were there only one. I feel sorry for the person or persons who had the bad experience with them but cant believe anybody who spent 8000.00 dollars if they spent 8000.00 didnt get one hundred percent complete satisfaction from the start of the sale to the delivery. I cant believe anybody spending that much money would be wasting there time on this report . I know if i spent 8000.00 on furniture,car.etc. I would be considering other actions . So any of us reading these reports must use a little common sense when considering what type of people this particular consumer must be. I hope sleepmart takes this with a grain of salt and just keeps doing what they are doing . Great job guys.

Our company strives to satisfy all customer needs. This complaint is not true and no salesperson in this company would ever speak to a customer in this manner. If there is ever a dissatisfied customer, all they would need to do is contact the store and we would do everything to make the customer happy. We are very sad to see our company on this type of report. We treat every customer as we would want to be treated. We would like to apologize for the language used in this untrue complaint, which we believe came from a disgruntled ex-employee and not from an actual customer from our store.

We appreciate all our customers for thier continued patronage. If there is ever a complaint please contact the store and we will be happy to resolve the issue.
