I am the treasurer of a local small town non profit organization that depends on donations to exist. We hired Slotnick Signs to build a very simple interchangeable letter sign that is constructed from laminated plywood with plastic tracks to hold the letters in place. On January 12, 2013 the entire letter board was replaced with a new board and tracks. The cost was an astounding $665.00. Remember, we're talking about a piece of laminated plywood that is about 5' X 4' with some plastic tracks screwed into it. Well here we are a little over a year later and the tracks have cracked and warped and the letters fall off the minute you try to install them. So we call this guy in and he says "well we had a severe winter, but no one else I know had a problem". Then he follows up with "you guys always take the cheap route" even though we were never offered a good, better, best option. So he proceeds to write a proposal to replace the entire sign again at his reduced rate of $270.00 and says the manufacturer is warrantying the tracks on one side only, and he is replacing the board for free. So four tracks cost $270.00?? Instead of stepping up and replacing the shotty crap he built a year ago, this man decides to further take advantage of a non profit organization by ripping them off even further. To date we have spent $2,206.63 repairing and replacing what amounts to a laminated piece of plywood with some plastic tracks screwed to it. But it gets even better. So now that I've made the rest of the board of directors aware of this guy's pathetic credibility, he tries to undermine me by suggesting to the board that I be put in a less public place, whatever that means. It seems that the truth hurts this guy so badly that he needs to try and convince the other board members that it's me and not really his crappy craftsmanship even while his sign literally disintegrates in front of his eyes. Do yourselves a favor when shopping for truck lettering, signs of any kind, or whatever this guy offers, and pass him right on by. You won't find yourself in our predicament if you do. This guy's credibility went down the toilet with yesterday's lunch. He makes excuse after excuse and clouds the issue at hand, that his works sucks, period. And when it comes to making things right, good luck with this thief.

More smoke and mirrors

Contrary to the pretty picture that was painted as well as outright lies told, no one is satisfied with the shoddy, disgraceful, pathetic workmanship this so called sign company performed. The board of directors has been intact for over 20 years, far more years than any sign this company constructs can last. There is no excuse for ridiculously high prices and poor materials and workmanship, which is what we repeatedly received every single time we did business with this company. The prices were always 10 times more than the value and quality of the job. To this day the sign sways at least 8 inches in either direction whenever the wind blows. After mentioning this to the master craftsman at Slopnick Signs, his response was to kick some rocks in the hole. I guess for $2200.00 plus dollars there's no room left for cement. (2) 4X4 posts and a piece of laminated plywood with some tracks screwed to it ate up all that money!! As you can see, this guy is a master manipulator that clouds the issue at hand, pathetic quality materials and workmanship, by painting a picture of sheer innocence and of being a prominent business person. I wonder why he never mentioned that the president of our board had to tell him to stop communicating with any of us in any way, and that we did not want to hear from him or his pathetic company ever again.

Really just sour grapes

The person who filed this report against my company is just reacting to a personal confrontation that we had. Contrary to the rules of Ripoff Report, he is lying about the facts. I have been doing quality work for the community organization he is representing for many years. My work and prices have been praised by his predecessors. I have been producing high quality signage in the same community for over 42 years now, and belong to three regional business associations.

The contact person for the project that is in question has been taken over by another representative of the complainer's group. The job was completed to their satisfaction, and they were appreciative of the extra effort and donations that my company provided.
