I have read a lot of the smc reports and find them all to be true. the comany has done the same thing to me. there is no use writting any thing about smc. we all need to ban together and sue these scum bastards in class action law suit. there has to be a lawyer some where that can stop smc from ripping off good honest people. any takers.

I had a similar experience with SMC

AUTHOR: Shurders - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 06, 2008

It was like deja vu reading all the reports about SMC. I too had the useless gift card site, unordered catalogs, gift cards and merchandise being sent to me, and multiple unauthorized withdrawals from my account. I had sold 3 items on Ebay and the only way I could complete the transactions, were to wait until I needed to pay for the merchandise and transfer the money to my SMC account from my personal checking account, because SMC kept my SMC account empty. I went to my bank after they called me saying there was a fraud alert on my account because there were 9 separate $100 withdrawals in one day, all from SMC. It's funny because when the bank learned the withdrawals were made by SMC, they said, "Oh, it's SMC again!" The bank disputed those withdrawals and got all my money back for me. It's a good thing I set up a separate account. I closed it down after this incident.

Then, I filed a report with the BBB and SMC responded with the "taped" conversations where they say I kept ordering merchandise. I responded that I also had taped our conversations and no where in any of those tapes am I ordering merchandise. Then they changed their story and said I ordered from their website and I still owed them for all the merchandise, but I had printed off my order history right before that to prove that I didn't, I've not been able to log in since then, so they must have tried to locked me out to prevent me from getting my proof.

But, I got my proof. They said they would sue me for the cost of the merchandise, but that's been 2 years ago

Contact your state attorney general

AUTHOR: Edward - (U.S.A.)

Ohio has so many work at home rip off complaints they have a website warning potential victims not to participate. I would report this to both yours and California state attorney general. They can shut these people down or get your money back.

We do all the work for SMC

AUTHOR: Wally - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 24, 2008

SMC is a rip off. Yes I did the work and have made money. I sold over $800,000.00 in 3 years. However, they steal your customers from you by sending them member packages (hey we give them the shipping addresses) amongst many other marketing schemes. The catalog...World of Products..Google it, they have 3 sister web sites advertising SMC. So we get them hooked at our expense ($1000s in catalogs and $1000s purchasing their websites and yearly updates to "your" website) and they reel them in. Many of my customers tell me that they are now a member of SMC. BEWARE!!!!

I Agree 100%...SMC Needs to be Stopped! Isn't there a Lawyer out there, that Specialize in this type of Consumr FRAUD!!!

AUTHOR: Caryn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 18, 2008

I cannot believe with all the Attorney General, Better Business Bureau...and Ripoff reports out there, against SMC (Specialty Merchandise Corporation) / EMC (E-Merchant Club), that there would not be enough people for a Class Action. I guarantee any lawyer willing to take this on...that you will NOT have ANY problem meeting a quota, for the amount of people necessary to build a class action. Everyone...including myself...who was taken advantage of, by this company...is anxiously awaiting your call.

And, this company is obviously committing fraud...in so many ways...and getting away with it for way too long! SMC will never charge the same amount for the exact same product. Dependant on what the sales rep gets out of each consumer...that's what the cost is for that transaction only. That same sales rep, gets on their next call...and convinces that person to spend MORE money than the last one...well...that is how much the package cost is...for that consumer. They would never know...the person before them...was charged several hundred dollars lessfor the EXACT SAME THING!

Then there's all the true stories about how SMC continues to take money from consumers' accounts...even though they have cancelled their membership. And they make it a complete nightmare to cancel...for a reason. For all those who give up...out of frustration (not being able to get in touch with a human voice), have given SMC the opportunity to make money where they won't have to do another thing, beyond the initial sales call. This company is truly pitiful.

Once SMC saturated the market with consumers selling the exact same products...they needed another angle. That's when I believe they really became greedy...and opened EMC (their website division). They went into this...knowing nothing about websites...or how to properly service those who purchase them. They got an easy template program...that can make sites one after the other in literally seconds (costing nothing more to them, than the initial program cost)...but state they take 30-60 days to create...and charge ridiculous money for each one. OKwe understand cost for laborbut this is ridiculous. The true purpose of the 30-60 day wait...is for SMC to ensure you have passed your refund period. And this is how they try to get around it. Your refund period SHOULD NOT start until after you receive your product....but instead...your time is being used up...while the site is being so-called built.

Then you end up getting a site...one exactly like everyone else's out there. And these sites do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I know because I had one. And it did not make ONE SINGLE sent. In fact whenever anyone would try to purchase from it it NEVER worked properly and did not allow them to complete a transaction. That does not instill confidence in someone to ever shop with you again. And the ONLY reason I got any traffic at all to my site was PURELY due to thousands of dollars I had to spend on print advertising in addition to what I had spent with SMC to get the site. What a complete RIPOFF!!!

They sell the idea of a website through this ridiculous gift card program. A gift card site is NOT, in any way...a full service website, where anyone can place an order. No one can purchase a thing from your siteUNLESS they own a gift card. This idea is utterly ridiculous. Then when I called to complain about, the rep telling me I got a FULL SERVICE site which I DID NOT they worked on up selling me a site that would do everything I wanted it to do. Well when I complained about the fact that I was lied to, by the sales rep who told me this was a FULL SERVICE site the new rep said I don't know why they told you that. Oh paaalleeeesse! How many times have they used that line!

I am not going to go into my whole story I have already reported SMC/EMC to the Attorney Generals Office, and the Better Business Bureau. But we need a higher power to bring this company down!!! If we could get the AG's office on our side as well that would be awesome. But for now if we can get an attorney specializing in Consumer Fraud to please take this case.and if there is already a case in progress PLEASE let all of us frustrated consumers know so we can jump right on board. We are ready to fight for justice!!!
