Individual claimed to be the smog shop owner. He sold me a used car and was very misleading when I purchased the vehicle. He purposely withheld information about the backed-up registration since 2016 and left a stolen 2019 sticker on the plates to ensure its sale. He gave me paperwork for a lien sale that was previously filled in and signed.

He just used white out on the buyer’s information and put my name instead. I did not notice this until I got home. I know that was a bad move on my behalf because I was too excited about buying my first car that I did not notice his scam. After doing some research at home I found the actual registered smog shop owner, his name is Malik Farahai.

He was actually there when I was looking at the car and did not stop the scammer from doing what he was doing. He could say in his defense that he was not aware of the scam, but it is his phone number on the paper work. I refuse to believe that he was completely unaware that the car was not currently registered, and this individual was title jumping.

I paid him 3000 $ dollars for the car and when I contacted the individual he told me the bill of sale says 500 disregarding the fact that the bill of sale was actually left blank but had the date of 12/24/2018 and that he would only return 500$ cash. Malik was supposed to pick up the car and bring me a check of 3000$ but I refused to accept the check because I paid him cash on the first of January.

Needless to say, they got away with not having to register the car themselves and sold it to me with a 1,303$ fee to get this car registered. Plus, the 50$ additional dollars I spent on the smog check that the seller is responsible for providing. This was a learning experience for me as a new car owner and will not trust this business for anything. I took care of the smog check somewhere else because I will not go back to this smog shop on 2777 Boquete Canyon Road Santa Clarita, California 91350.

They do not do honest bussiness at this shop. The individual told me to come back if the DMV asked for a recent smog certificate and that they would pass any car just to have the car run more than 60 miles to have the engine warmed up before putting it on the machine. That should have been a red flag for me that they where scammers but I still bought the car and went home 3000 less with invalid paperwork to give the DMV and stolen sticker on the license plates that I was unaware of at the time of the purchase.
