I received a nasty telephone call from a man named Brian Dias that worked a for a company named SonicCash.net. He said I failed to repay a payday loan. He said I had 2 hours to have an attorney call back on my behalf because they were going to charge me with three counts of fraud charges and that if I had any past legal convictions I would be in more serious trouble. He said the police would be at my door tomorrow to arrest me.

I asked if there was any way to settle this out of court. He said I owed $1400.95 and if I went to court I would have to pay $1498.50 in court fees and someone would have to post bail to get me out. Then he said we could take care of this if I came up with $500.00. I should give it to him using a credit card over the telephone. I had never heard from this company or received an email until today. I did apply for a loan from this company back in March 2008 but they denied my application and never deposited any money in my bank account.

He then stated that I would have to fax a written apology letter and he told me word for word what to say. I was instructed to fax it to him within ten minutes or else they would go ahead and prosecute me.

I did not fax the letter and he called back ten minutes later. When I told him I was not going to fax the letter he got nasty yelled at me for inconveniencing him by lying and telling him that I was going to fax over an apology letter. Then he said he would see me in court.

This sounds like a scam. Fraud is fraud and no matter what you do 'after the fact' you would still be in trouble with the DA or Solicitor. You really should file a report if you have any substantial info about who called you. The police look for fraud patterns.

You also need to stop associating with low-lifes.

Maybe now you will avoid payday loan, title loan, rent-to-own and so on? Just maybe?
