Spartan Movers Took credit card number and scheduled move, but never showed up Cincinnati Ohio

My son needed to be out of his apartment by 9/1. Since we had a busy week, we (my husband and I) told him we would pay for a moving company, so he called Spartan and arranged for them to come at 9:00 am on Saturday, 8/31.  They wanted my credit card number in advance, and I guess I was stupid to give it to them.


On August 31,  I went over to my son's apartment at 8:30 to help him get things in order. When the moving truck hadn't shown by 9:15, he called and was told they would look into it and get back to him.  By 9:45, when he hadn't heard back, he started trying to call them back.  He made several attempts, and then tried calling from my phone; this time (surprise) she answered and told him that someone's wife had gone into labor and they would try to get a crew from Columbus to come down. She promised the move would happen that day. He implored her to PLEASE keep in touch with him and update him when they had any further information.


I left my son's place to run some errands, and at 11 he called and told me they promised a truck would be at his apartment between 1 and 2 o'clock (I'm not sure if they called him, or he got them to answer  ---  It is really hard to get them to answer the phone.)  At 2:30, they still hadn't shown, and we had hours to get my son moved. I tried calling again from my phone (they weren't answering his) but I guess they now had my number from earlier, so they didn't answer mine, either. Also never called back, after I left a brief message.


In the end, we called upon a friend and family members who had vans to help, and managed to get my son moved with several trips back and forth.


The moving truck never showed up. The company never called.
