I purchased a starter kit for a work from home business for $30.  They sent the kit but after I tried their system and didn't make any money the first day like their ad claims,  I decided to cancel.   When I tried to cancel the membership within 30 days, like their policy said, they refused my calls, emails were unanswered, and letters were returned unopened.  Before I decided to cancel, there was always a customer service rep. to talk to about problems I had with their program. After I sent my letter of cancellation like their policy states, I tried calling them back after a few days to see if they had received it. I was shocked to find out their number was suddenly disconnected.  That was a red flag of Fraud!

So my first reaction was to get legal advice but since I had only paid $30 for the kit, no lawyer would help me. They all said I had a valid case but the refund was too small and I would end up spending more on court fees, and it wasn't worth their time.  Well, I got frustrated, because it shouldn't matter about the amount of my refund. There was a violation of my rights as a consumer and I wanted justice! So I then contacted The Department of Consumer Affairs in my county.  I received prompt friendly service from Consumer Affairs in trying to help me resolve my case. Although they do assist consumers who have issues with companies who commit  fraud, they are not able to force a company to give you a refund.  After months of being hung up on several times, letters ignored, them denying they owed me anything, they did finally get SMC to remove my name from their collections list. But I still never received my refund.

Your are absolutly right. There is a certain amount of "puffing" about the success potential but just like any sales business, it takes a certain type of individual to make it.

Also, a great deal of hard work. Most people today are not looking for that, they want the get rich quick plan.

This is not in any way refering to SMC's products since I have no knowlege of them but....A good salesman can sell anything, as evident by the many ROR's posted from people that purchased worthless or defective products.

My Good Experience with SMC

AUTHOR: Turconator - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, January 07, 2011

I was involved with SMC for a time. I no longer am involved becuase my "tastes" have changed and not because of anything bad about SMC.

I read many of the negative comments on here and I have to say that I am disspaointed, but not surprised. One disgruntled person says that he did not make money after just one day and then he gave up and wanted a refund!

Really?

Hmm. You may want to rethink the whole wanting to be an entrepenur thing. My experience with SMC was really good. I found t eh customer service to be excellent, the products they offered provided a decent profit and I did fairly well with it. I even visited their warehouse and was VERY impressed with their operation.

I'm sorry to hear people saying negative things about them, but I will tell you they are a class operation, with a great opportunity (although they could update a some of their marketing materials/programs a little) and i can tell you first hand they really do care.

That said, I have to mention this. Most folks getting into a business like this are looking for fast easy money and getting rich overnight or they just have no business being in business for themselves. Sorry. It had to be said.

Those are the ones that fail.

SMC has been around a very long time and many have done well with it. But like any business endeavor, you have to WORK it or the business will NOT WORK for you.

On emore thing, I have NEVER run into customer service issues or ever failed to get a call or email back from them. It is unfortunate and not the norm, but the exception that happens to all businesses at some point. If McDonalds gave us poor customer service or took too long to get your food, would you consider THEM a scam? Of course not. My guess i sthe infrastructure of SMC may be growing faster than they can keep up at times, so they do need to correct that if that's the case.

Thanks for listening.
