It is clearly obvious from the bad grammar and spelling mistakes that the same person is once again trying to tarnish the good name of a talented mechanic and a stand-up guy.

Shop 1:  Paraphrasing "Hell no!  They are idiots"

Shop 2: "No one does business with them but fools"

Shop 3:  "See that car out there, they f**ked it up and the owner"

Parts Supplier: When SU was mentioned, the room got quiet. Then laughter.


Conclusion....no good

Rebuttal to: Ex-employee---it's bad folks

Mark of Clovis was never an employee of Speed Unlimited, I do not understand how rip off report can allow theses lies to be posted.

Work is top notch, Dan/Speed Unlimited will not let a car leave the shop unless it as good as it can be. It is not uncommon for Dan to spend a couple of extra hours on a car and not charge for it. His customers often give him tips because of the additional time and effort he puts it to their cars.

There are no BAR claims against Dan or Speed Unlimited. Dan has to have a BAR number to operate like ever other shop, you can see it clearly posted on the sign in his parts show room. The fact that Mark Johnson of Clovis did not file a claim w/ BAR shows that what he has written here are lies.

Dan moved back to Clovis because it a better location for a business than Belmont. His former landlord would have rented to him again if the space had been available.

No customer has ever lost a car, lies, lies, lies yeah!

Please do call around. Other shops ask Dan for advise when tha can't figure something out. Several local shops get their rebuild tarnsaxles from Dan.

Again more lies, the allegations of drug use are completely unfounded.

Is this supposed to be funny or a parody?

Once again, I have known Ron - 34 years, Dan - 25+ years and Mike since he was a child.  I have been to the shop countless times. (At least once a month for 34 years) In addition, I have seen all three numerous times away from work both by chance meeting and sometimes as fellow off roaders. All three are well respected VW mechanics.  All three have extensive knowledge about air cooled VWs and all are willing to share that knowledge.  I have never seen any of these three in trouble with the law, high, or drunk in 34 years.  In fact, I have never seen them touch alcohol while working at the shop or while on a "run".   You would think that in 34 years I would have seen something if things were amiss. 

All three have extensive work and contacts in the racing community. In fact, they even have "thank you" pictures on the wall from racers.  Do you think racers go to bad shops for parts or engines?

I can tell you even today (Sept 14, 2009) I dealt with two of Dan's parts suppliers and in their words:  Dan is the guy.  He knows more about Volkswagens than anyone they know.  In fact, one of them had a question today and called Dan for verification.  This is a guy who has been dealing with air cooled VWs for 45+ years!!

I am going to have another engine built for my car and it will be another 2300cc VW engine.  It will make power and survive because it will be built by Dan or not built at all. My car currently has a Speed Unlimited trans and engine.  Trans has 150,000+ miles on it and the engine was built 20 years ago.  Both operate perfect.  I am not sure how many miles are on the engine as it has been in three different cars.  Work to date: valve adjustments, oil changes, and tune ups.  Hard to beat that!!

Now this is not to say any shop is perfect everyday on every issue however, I can say with confidence if you have an issue with anyone at Speed Unlimited they will "make it right". This is not bravado, this is fact!!

Now I encourage you to check out Speed Unlimited yourself instead of the ramblings and rantings of someone that obviously has a problem.  Go to the shop.  See what they have.  Listen to Dan, and hear his advice.  It does not cost you anything but your time. Find out for yourself who is right. I am that confident in what I say.

I do not know who these people are.  Perhaps they are a competitors of Dans' thinking they can can profit by smearing the shop. I don't know.  I do not work there and I have no financial interest in this fight.  I am merely trying to defend a known good shop from someones vendetta and smear tactics.

Bottom line:  Check out Speed Unlimited yourself.  I am confident you will find a competent, drug free, knowledgeable, VW shop.  Tell Dan I said "Hi".

 

 

 

 

 

What has been reported is true. And worse. Ron is weird. Dan is a drug users. Employees come and go like flys.  Ron is a control freak bar none. Dan is his little boy. Mike is on Megans List. A very strange collection of oddballs. I worked for them and saw first hand what a strange group of weirdos.

Customers are screwed. Work is bad. Reputation is terrible in Fresno.

The E Belmont shop is closed. We had little if no work.  Folks do not return when they are ripped off.  One conversation with Ron they come to the shop shaking their heads in wonder. Dan would hide from creditors and the law.  Mike would be in and out of jail as fast as he could get more children.

Dan has opened under the SU vail in Clovis since he cannot have his own BAR number.
What is strange is he opened up right across the street from the old man he ripped off for $15,000 worth of back rent.  Go across the street from the Clovis shop. Talk to the older man who rented to Dan in 2002. Ask HIM what sort of person Dan Bergan is.

Customers lost their cars when he folded.  Now he thinks he can give it a go again, but this community remembers.  Parts houses demand CASH. Cash for a reason.

Call some of the parts houses. Ask them about Ron and Dan.  Contact the BAR ask them about Dan.

And yes, the drug use by Dan is well documented. I would not let him work on my ex's attorney's car.

Save yourself some grief and pick a legit shop in town for your VW.
There are many shops who do quality work, SU is not one of them. 

Do your own homework and call around.

First let me say I do not know Mark from Clovis or his particular situation.

I do know Ron, Mike, and Dan.  I have been a long time customer of Speed Unlimited since 1975. (Yes that is 34 years) I have owned air cooled Volkswagens all of my adult life.  I have had 2 squarebacks, 2 beetles and 2 buggies.  I have had engines, transaxles, suspensions, service, and a complete car built there. Over the years I have spent thousands of dollars at Speed Unlimited and still do. All service and repairs were completed to my satisfaction at Speed Unlimited.  In every case, I was treated fairly and professionally. If there was a problem or disagreement it was handled promptly and professionally. I have not found a shop in the Fresno area that is more knowledgeable about air cooled volkswagen in these last 34 years. I am still running engines and transaxles that were built by Speed Unlimited many years and miles ago with no problems.  I continue to use them for service and repairs to this day.

Regarding the drug allegations and alleged sex offender charges they are false.  I know these people. I suspect they are the creation of a disgruntled customer and have no place in a forum like this. 

Now before others suspect my motives my only purpose here is to rebut the accusations of Mark. I have no dog in this fight.  I am merely a customer of Speed Unlimited and I have no business or finacial interests in Speed Unlimited.  I merely felt the need to defend these three people from what I consider falsehoods.
