Sport Club AV sold me a contract to join its gym by promising me a $99.00 per year renewal. The saleman pitched me twice and finally convinced me that the gym would be worth it one day. I paid a large amount down, considering the gym was not fixed up yet and had many repairs to be done. They promised the repairs of the facility within two weeks of my paying the money, but in two weeks nothing was done.
In fact, it was many months before anything was done and then still til this day the gym was in disrepair and filth. When a year came around I honored my end of the written contract and paid them $99.00 though in hopes they would finally fix various issues inside the gym wanting to keep in shape.
I was humiliated though when they tried to get me to renew a contract by an electronic devise, compelling me to sign a contract without seeing it. I realized that the owners intended to breach their agreement/contract with me by using unlawful tactics and trick people into contracts they really did not agree to. I stopped them and told them I cannot redo a year without looking at the contract and agreeing consciously to any terms listed. They became angry at me and demanded more money than the $99.00 per year renewal fee. My contract did not have any hidden fees or any fees up and beyond the renewal rate based on the original large sum I paid in good faith to help the gym which was over what I would usually pay for any gym.
They finally agreed to their contract after two hours of humiliation, distress, and dishonorable behaviors and embarrassment inflicted upon me by the manager who also sold me the contract. He explicity told me when I signed up for the gym, "Pay this amount and you will have a $99.00 renewal rate for life." I believed him and also signed a contract that stated the same facts.
They then took my money for the year but I did not feel so good about the ethics of the gym any longer and didn't go. I kept getting calls though harrassing me from their financial department taking my time and inflicting more distress. I told them the same, I will honor my contract that I signed but will not pay anymore money for this gym. They kept me on the phone for quite a long time and finally got back to me telling me that extra fees were waived after speaking to the gym authorities.
An hour later I recieved a call from the same manager who sold me the membership and tried to breach his contract with me telling me that he was canceling my membership. He said he woul refund the fee I just paid.
They frauded me for a large amount of money though initially based on a written contract and also in good faith that I would be guaranteed a yearly rate of $99.00. They need to return this and make restitution for the suffering I endured and for breaching their contracts.
They have been intentionally decieving people into contracts without showing them the contracts by having them sign their names on an electronic devise. Their reps stand behind a counter and tell the customer to sign here, and there, and here or there without even showing them what the contract states. I told them on two occassions that this is unlawful and unethical and they must lay out full terms to consumers plus show them what they are signing. They laughed at me.
There are others who are complaining and other gyms relayed to me after discussing various issues with them concerning gym memberships and business ethics that they have recieved numerous complaints and calls about Sport Club AV and that people have been ripped off by them. One woman made a complaint apparently that the gym charged her a fee when it was not even open yet, even though it did not provide the services guaranteed her and used a different name keeping the gym closed (prior to opening under a new name.)
I was berated, harrassed, conned, and humiliated. I joined a gym for my well being and health and the opposite took place. The ethics of the owner is abominable and bad intentioned and he hires people who use the same bad ethics and policies to inflict criminal activity upon a populace of innocent people who want to gain their health, get into shape, heal from injuries, or make themselves feel better through exercise. It is not fair to myself, my family who also had issues with the same gym, and to others in the communities this gym owner has recently opened gyms in.
