I received my cell phone bill from Sprint to find that my son's phone, (which is not even capable of accessing the web) was billed $35.64 from a company called Emexus.

Not only am I wondering how my wireless company (Sprint) can justify billing me these unauthorized charges, how can this company (Emexus) get away with sending text messages that aren't authorized, at a fee of 99 cents each?

When my son showed me that a number was sending him text messages, I told him not to read them, (which is what Sprint instructed me to do when I ran into this problem several months ago with another company).

When I call the phone number to Emexus, 800-235-7105, of course, it is an automated system that tells me to enter my phone number if I no longer want to receive text messages. Why would I have to remove my number from a service I never signed up for to begin with? How do these companies get away with this? I would be very interested to hear a rebuttal on this issue, but am sure I won't.

To incure the type of charges specified above SOMEONE with access to the either sent a text to a 5 digit short code or entered their phone number on an online website. These can include things like joke of the day, ringers, games. These companies DO NOT just randomly send these out. If it were me I would have a long talk with my son. Also, unless you have a block on the internet your son can still access it at 3 cents per kb. Sprint is not charging you for this, the comapany you mentioned is. So that makes me wonder why you did not report them?
