In March 2015 I purchased Sprint phone service and while going through the process online of getting what I needed I was sold the idea of getting the phone, plus unlimited data for just $60 a month plus the charge of $24.99 for the phone lease payment and so I thought I was looking at an $80 a month bill. My first bill in April was $109.00 and when I contacted them about that bill I was told that the bill was so high because of some prorated bull and that my next bill would be just $77. Well, My May bill came and this time it was $143.00 and of course I went crazy and almost caught a heart attack. I contacted them several times and was told that I would be getting a refund in the amount of $80 but I had to pay the $143.00 first. I then contacted the FCC and filed a complaint. On Friday May 1, I got a call from some bullshit supervisor and I told her that I can pay what I owe but not what they are trying to steal from me. I told her that I am a homebound disabled woman and never even knew what data was and that I do not use data because I have home internet. She told me that she would call me back after she investigates and well, today I am disconnected because I was not going to give them my little bit of money for services that I was not using.

Miscalculation

I am a Sprint customer for my cellphone and ATT for Uverse and can tell you that taxes on utilities can be quite high b/c the city, county and state all want their share and that's not including any additional surcharges carriers tack on for complying with government mandates - so taxes could add an additional 15% to 25% based on your location. Looking at the numbers you provided it seems that expecting an $80 month bill was a bit unrealistic b/c the plan ($60) + the device ($24.99) was already putting your bill @ $84.99 not including taxes. If you add between $12 to $21 in taxes, you'll end up with a normal bill ranging from $96.99 to $105.99 - the first bill of $109 seems to be within that range based on partial charges. Sprint usually charges $36 for activating a new phone (unless it can be waived based on your employment or other promotions) which can take 1-3 billing cycles to post - the second of $143 seems accurate if you were charged the $36 activation fee on that invoice plus your "regular" charges of $96.99 to $105.99. I suggest reviewing the invoice to see how much you are paying in taxes and surcharges and then adding that to your "regular" plan of $84.99. Also, take into consideration that any additional services such as insurance will increase your base price. Best of luck!
