Standard Trust, Donna Robert, Vice President Finance Company sent a $4,900.00 check, deducted from winnings, with instructions to call for tax information Nova Scotia

This company sent a check to my 90 year old mother in the amount of $4,900.00 with a letter stating that she should call for instructions as to the payment of tax on her winnings of $250,000.00. The letter explained that the winning lump sum would be paid once the taxes were paid, and that the tax amount of #3,400.00 was to be paid by Money Gram "located in every Walmart Stores around you".

The tax information was to be received from Claim Agent Steve Brown, and she was instructed to contact RON at 1 416 825 9854. The name on the check (uncertified) was Alpha Financial, Inc., P.O. Box 366, Scarborough, ME 04070 and it was drawn on Gorham Savings Bank, Scarborough, ME 04070.

We have been getting her mail and have found and responded to many solicitations. Many elderly in her building are drawn into these, with much money being siphoned out of people that can hardly afford these ripoffs.
