Star Capital Securities Inc. American Shoppers Sweepstakes St. Charles Montana

I recieved a letter from Star Capital Securities Inc. stating that I was a winner of the North American Shoppers Sweepstakes held on Mar. 5th, 2008 in the 2nd category.

There was a check enclosed in the amount of $4875.00 which I was instructed to deposit into my account for the purpose of paying the taxes on my winning amount of $125,000.00 U.S. dollars. The tax amount was stated as $2975.00 and was to be paid by Western Union, or Moneygram directly to the tax agent. After depositing the check I was to contact the claims agent, a Mrs. Carol Armstrong, for further clarification within 5 business days.

The letter was a "Final Notification", as they claimed to have tried to reach me many times unsuccessfully.

I called, and was told to call back after I deposited the money. At first it seemed plausible, but as I thought it over I realized that their check would probably bounce, and my if I sent the $2,975.00 it would be in their pockets instead of in my account.

So, thanks the internet and Ripoff report I was able to investigate prior to committing an error in good faith.

I hope these people get caught so unsuspecting little old ladies and men don't get ripped off.
