In what way does Starbucks "grossly" overcharge for coffee?
AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Friday, October 01, 2010
I agree there are items on the menu I can not even pronounce.and that probably have more calories then I require to intake for a day.
But the price for a cup of coffee..seems to me to be fair. I do know their coffee is stronger then where I usually get it from, 7/11, but is it really "grossly" overpriced? I pay around 1.60 for a cup there..not exactly budget breaking)
Part of the problem is...many think Starbucks is the Mercedes Benz of coffee..or it is worth more because it is the "experience" and not just the coffee.
Me?...I just want a quick cup..and I am out of there. I may pay 10 or 20 cents more for a regular cup of coffee if I am near a Starbucks vs. anywhere else I can grab a quick cup...but I do not feel "grossly" overcharged at all. I feel the coffee is too strong so I end up dumping 1/3 of it out anyhow and filling it with half and half..which is free.
If someone likes their coffee this strong...compared to anywhere else, I would think Starbucks is an equal bargain. Just stick to "coffee" and not some hoko mocho frappe conglomerate grande loco 1/2 pound of sugar and fat. Oh I bet it taste good..but no...I will not pay 4 bucks for it, and I do not want diabetes.

This Post is Suspect to Me

I wouldn't mind if someone called me "Sweetie" once in a while and I see nothing even remotely fascist about it.
Benito Mussolini and Francisco Franco were fascists and I do not think they called anyone, anywhere at anytime "sweetie." That is not what fascists do.
The headline mentions gang stalkers and yet I only hear about one barrista here. The imagery of a gang of stalking and menacing barristas is too ludicrous to imagine.
Either this is a bogus post or there is a person with a serious personality disorder but I am not sure if there is an app for that to help her ... or him at this time.
I do not patronize Starbucks because I have a problem with being grossly overcharged for anything.

Good job Ronny!!! I agree 100% - what is so wrong with "sweetie""? Would you prefer to be called "hag"? And what do you know about facism?? Please don't get me started on that or you idiot SS-like garbage? Are you a Holocaust survivor?
As for JOE and his CAPS - turn it off and what is it? Are you Mexican or German? Yes I have read your idiotic rebuttals about pretty much every establishment in Austin. I LOST family in the Holocaust and I take offense to anyone even remotely using n**i wording in reference to a person/business in the 21st Century.

And your point is...

I have a feeling you have alot of problems with businesses, mainly because you expect them to cater to your personal preferences. When they dont, you become defensive and think everyone is a neo n**i zoom dweebie.
You mentioned it was "the second time in as many weeks this has happened".
My question is,"why would you patronize a business where you previously had a bad experience with"?
I know that if I didnt like the way a business was run, I dont go back and continue to dish out my money and make them rich, which in a way is like condoning their conduct.
Then you continue rambling about society and businesses and blah, blah, blah. So you had a upsetting time at the coffee house. Big deal. You must not get out much or things like this wouldnt "torment" you. Lame

An easy solution..

Get Coffee somewhere else. There is no shortage of places to get coffee. I prefer 7-11. Did being called "sweetie" really terrorize you? I do occasionally get coffee from Starbucks since there is one in the Barnes And Nobles right next to me.
The employees seem to be nothing more then average working class Americans. I find them rather pleasant truth be told. I just prefer 7-11 as I feel Starbucks coffee is a bit strong for my tastes.
But do I lodge a report for this? No...I simply go somewhere that sells weaker coffee. If someone calls me sweetie, I take that as a complement. I guess I have bigger things to concern myself with.
So..from this report I can conclude that you are a moron...as the website regarding Facism..and mentioning stalking in this report..has not much to do with some coffee shop worker that called you sweetie or that you are not happy with the background music or how they set the thermostat.

HAS IT OCCURRED TO YOU THAT THIS MAN COULD HAVE BEEN A FOREIGNER AND HE WAS SAYING NICE WORDS, MAYBE THE ONLY NICE WORDS IN ENGLISH HE KNOWS.
I HAVE BEEN CALLED A LOT WORSE IN MY LIFE THAN DEAR AND SWEETIE.
NOT OFFENSIVE. NO WAY.
IF THE MUSIC WAS NOT DER HORST WESSEL LIED OR DER BADENHEIMER MARSCH, THEN HOW DID YOU KNOW IT WAS FROM THE SS OR NOT?
DO YOU UNDERSTAND GERMAN? HAVE YOU EVER EVER SEEN LENI RIEFENSTAHL'S n**i PROPAGANDA MASTERPIECE :TRIUMPH OF THE WILL? NOW THAT IS SOME OF WHAT REAL NAZIS WERE ALL ABOUT...THE EVIL IN THEIR EYES.
TERRORISTS AND NAZIS DO NOT CALL PEOPLE SWEETIE AND DEAR -- THEY WOULD PROBABLY BEHEAD.
I KNOW A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE SS SINCE MY GRANDFATHER WAS ONE STEP AHEAD OF A CONCENTRATION CAMP WHEN HE FLED GERMANY.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH A LITTLE DEMOCRACY? I LIKE TO LEARN ABOUT PEOPLE FROM ALL ETHNICITIES, SOCIOECONOMIC LEVELS OF LIFE, ETC. AS LONG AS THEY DON'T TRY TO ROB AND MURDER ME.
IT WAS JUST ONE GUY, NOT A GANG. AND HE WAS TRYING TO BE NICE.
BE GLAD I WASN'T THERE.
I WOULD HAVE NEVER HAVE CALLED YOU DEAR AND SWEETIE.
I WOULD HAVE SAID "YUPPIE!"
WHY DO YUPPIES THINK THAT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT THEM?
THAT THE WHOLE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND THEM AND THEY NEVER STOP BEING FIVE YEARS OLD EMOTIONALLY?

It's too bad

It's really too bad that the store won't modify it's entire environment to meet your personal requirements.
It's actually quite possible that other people have different requirements and they are catering to the majority.
Terrorize? Torment?
Wow, I expect they would be happy if you never darkened their door again. You are bizarre and you are not being Ripped Off!
