Stephen Kia annonced that it had merged with Carbanc, of Wichita in order to guarantee financing to anyone who had $199.00 and a job for 6 months or more. They specified that it would be regaurdless of credit history and that anyone who could meet the above criteria would be approved.

We applied on a Friday night over the phone. On Saturday we were called to come in and pick out a car. We sat in the office for nearly four hours when the salesman told us that we were approved and that they were just waiting on the final interest rate from the bank and it wouldn't be available until Monday. He had us take the car and come back Monday to sign the final papers.

I asked his specifically if we were definitaly approved and is Monday we would only have to come in and pay him the $199.00 and sign the papers, he said that I was correct. I then asked him if there was any way that things would fall through and we would be denied or required to pay a higher down payment. He told me that everything was approved, with the $199.00 down and that Monday we would finish the papers, but that the car was ours.

Maonday came and went and the guy did not have an interest rate yet and told us to come back Tuesday. On Tuesday he called and said that the financing fell through and thet we needed to return the car that day.

After having the car for four days he then took it back. He made sure that we were told that we were definitly approved on Saturday so that we would take the car off the lot for the weekend and fall in love with it only to rip it from our fingers later.

When I went to return the car he said that I would be able to get the car in January, that the bank would approve us at that time, just not now.

If the company is not going to approve those who meet their advertised criteria, they shouldn't guarantee approval to those who qualify. My husband has been at his job for almost 6 years and we had $199.00 ready to give them.

They got me on a lemon

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 11, 2004

I had a bad dealing with the same company. We are foster parents and found ourselves in an imediate need of larger transportation. Carbank had a Windstar that seemed to be a good vehicle at a fair price so I traded in my truck for it. Driving it home the vehicle dies, not to start again. They came and gopt it, gave us a loaner, returned it to us "fixed", it happens again. This goes on for two weeks, and they refuse to do the "We Owes" fixes generated in the deal saying they we're not needed. I even demanded the contract dead (within 30 days) and my truck back, bringing a police officer with me. I contacted the Stevens direct and action was taken to repair the van. They even replaced the head gaskets which was on recall. A year later the gaskets started leaking, they did'nt plane the aluminum heads when replacing the gaskets (a sever no-no). I'm going to come right out and say that if Stevens is the name on the deed of the building, run.

Carbanc:Our best effort every time

AUTHOR: KELVIN - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 23, 2004

Carbanc of Wichita has been doing business in the Wichita area since 1997. At the rate of 60 loans average per month for 7 years, that is over 5000 auto loans. The vast majority of our customers are not just satisfied but extremely gratefull for the service we provide. I have been with carbanc since its inception and will admit my perception could be considered bias. I must say, however, that I am very proud of the job we do.

I do not know the details of Heather's situation and so it is difficult to respond to but I will try. We guarantee credit based on a program set up with a local bank where we back the note. If the customer defaults on the loan we pay it off. This allows us to provide loans for anyone with a valid drivers license and a job. Only select vehicles will work on this program. In some cases the customer desires more vehicle than we can provide on this program. I am very sorry Heather had a bad experience and wish her better luck with her purchases in the future.
Thank You,

Dear Heather, It is time for The Great Thorn to respond to your Rip Off Report. What I am going to tell you will help you expose this car dealer.

Heather never for get that the Better Business Bureau is what I feel COMPLETELY on the businesses side of the fence.

Think about it, they only get their money from the businesses they are watching. So how can the BBB be on your side?

I am going to give you a step by step process to expose this BAD CAR DEALER.

Now Let's ROCK!

Step 1 If I were you, I would fax a copy of your Rip Off Report to

Kia Motors America, Inc.
P.O. Box 52410
Irvine, CA 92619-2410
Toll free: 1-800-333-4KIA
Fax: (949) 470-2812

car makers need to know that car buyers are SICK and TIRED of car dealer deception.

Step 2, I would fax a copy if I were you to all of your state AG's offices
Here are all 3 of their fax numbers. I also inclosed their email address so you could email them a direct link to your Rip Off Report.

Consumer Protection Division
Office of the Attorney General
120 SW 10th
4th Floor
Topeka, KS 66612-1597
785-296-3751

Fax: 785-291-3699
E-mail: cprotect@ksag.org

Fax: 913-715-3040

Fax: 316-383-4669

Step 3

I would also fax a "Printer Friendly Version" of your Rip Off Report to the Kia dealer that you tried to buy from. Here is their fax number 1-316-652-2275. So go get'em Heather.

Never forget that the Rip Off Report is always on YOUR side. I feel that the Better Business Bureau is only on the bad businesses side.

Heather go to www.ripoffreport.com and do a search for a rip off report with a title "The Fox guarding the hen house" You will understand everything after reading that Rip Off Report.

Signed
The Great Thorn

rideless .. maybe not

AUTHOR: wanna help - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 26, 2002

Hi Heather,

Well lets see, you saw an ad that was to good to be true, 199.00 dn 6mos job - everybody rides lie#1. You have just entered the gray area of automotive advertising (simular to the twilight zone) These are ads designed to bring in the ups(potential customers). Then they promised you that you were approved (but needed to get interest rate from bank)for future referance rates are givin by the bank to the dealer AT the time of APPROVAL "so take the car it's ok" he says. That was so they could work on getting you approved,(without you shopping other dealers) lie #2.

Needless to say there are some credit issues to deal with otherwise you wouldn't have had to wait for approval, as most indirect lenders (banks who buy notes from auto dealers) have automatic approvals for customers with fair to good credit. Well isn't that peachy you say, but how the hell does that help me. Honestly it doesn't. But I feel your pain and I'm very sorry you were mislead and lied to. So lets see if I can help, go to google (type) ONLINE AUTO LOANS, I did and got 180,000 hits WOW!!! as you can see many sites to apply online and get approved (e-loans,lending tree and many more to pick from)even with credit problems, and then you can go to any dealer and buy whatever you were qualified for. Here's how it works, you will submit online application, the lenders will review your credit history, job and residence history, they like stability and with 6yrs job time you have a big + then they will give you terms of loan (term,rate,etc....)also tell you that you qualify for a loan upto $$$$$$(dollar amount) they will e-mail or snail mail documents to you.

Then find the car that fits you and your loan at this time the dealer will say "well hell we can get better terms than that let me try" at this point remember what happened before!!!!!!! just say no. Don't let them force you into anything, YOU are now in charge, have loan will buy so to speak.

Negotiate hard, go to kelly blue book .com put in information get trade in value not retail. Take the car to your mechanic have it checked (your mechanic not thiers) if the dealer tells you no "LEAVE"!!!!get any promises in writing if they won't "LEAVE" when you feel comfortable with the car and dealer then buy. I hope I have been some help.

signed wanna help
