I met Steve Rivera in the summer of 2000. He already had 2 year old son and a daughter on the way. He smooth talked and squirmed his way into my life. I eventually became pregnant with my now 4 1/2 year old daughter. Almost exactly 2 years later, we had another daughter.

He lived in my house off and on from 2000 to 2004. He not once paid a bill, bought groceries, bought Christmas or Birthday presents. He did work a couple of "day labor/temporary" jobs, but when he would get paid he would take his money and run.

Finally, after my last daughter was born, he left and I wouldn't let him back. He was gone for good this time. Maybe it was because he told me he was having an affair with a girl and she was now pregnant.

9 months later, she has his 5th child. He does not contribute in anyway to the raising of any of his children. In 4 1/2 years, I have received $143.76 and that was last week. He only sent that because he was threatened by the Denver Child Support office to make a payment or face jail time. I'm sure that it will be another 4 years before I see anymore.

The sad thing is, he knows how to work the system. Child support can not make him get a job and so long as he makes a small payment every six months or so, they say they do not have the resources or time for further action.
