On December 20, 2008 I received a letter and check in the mail from the afforementioned company. I was of course very excited to see a check for $4750.00 especially so close to Christmas.

As I continued reading the letter, I realized the total win was $275,000.00. The letter instructed me to contact my "Claim Agent" immediately to begin processing my claim.

I called the number provided in the letter and the answering machine was to full to take another message. I spent the rest of the day, daydreaming about the money.
Thankfully this website exists and I was able to find several identical letters and reports on this scam.

My letter also contained the incorrectly spelled advice instead of advise and my winning numbers were also 15-66-83-78-02

Some of the names have changed and the address is not identical, but it is clearly the same scam.

Lottery Scam

AUTHOR: Jj - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 05, 2009

RSB was as much a victim as were these individuals. RSB is a trucking firm not a lottery corporation. We had over 30 people try to cash these bogus cheques on our account. We also fielded just as many calls from concerned citizens that actually did there homework and phoned us about the letter they had received. If you are winning money from a lottery that you never entered.... The old saying is - if its too good to be true it probably is. RSB was more inconvenienced by the fact that we had to close one bank account and reopen another and keep an eye out for the legitimate cheques that were written on our account. We filed a complaint with the Fraud Departement of our local Police Department the same day that we started getting calls from the "lottery winners"! We also had these lottery winners fax us the letters and cheques so that the police had physical proof. If these complainants on your web page had actually done their homework, they would have realized that this is just one of many lottery scams that are out there these days. The only legitimate thing on those lottery letters was our bank account. Remember to have all the facts before you go accusing innocent people or companies.

The lottery scam is a common problem. I myself know of another transportation company that has run into the same problem.
