Stumptown DJs of Portland OR is a DJ company that presents itself as a expert professional company when really they have terrible equipment, untrained DJs and horrible customer service. They take all your money up front and then provide terrible service and are totally unprofessional.
These scammers are only looking to get your money up front and are not concerned with whether or not they provide the services that you desire. Below is a snippet from their website, STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY
"It might sound harsh to say that we do not work with poor people, but as a Portland OR DJs, we have to be very careful about with whom we do our business. It is vital that we are paid for the events that we work, otherwise, we won’t have the necessary funds to buy better equipment or offer better services to our clients. In our experience, every time we’ve made arrangements to work with a poor person, they have failed to pay their bills, which makes it impossible for us to pay our bills.
When a person doesn’t pay their bills, it really only affects that one person. When a business isn’t able to pay their bills, there are dozens and sometimes hundreds of people that are affected. Stumptown DJs believes in paying our bills on time, and in full. In order to do that, our clients have to pay their bills on time, and in full.
We love working with a wide variety of different people and working at a number of different events. We started this business because we love being DJs. We don’t work with poor people because it makes sustaining our business impossible.
Who do we work with? We DJ parties, school dances, and corporate events. We work with clients who pay their bills and are just as psyched as we are about our professional DJ services. Stumptown DJs has seven DJs to choose from, all of whom have been professionally trained. We take our professionalism very seriously, and this makes it difficult to work with people who do not take our services or the need to be paid seriously.
We always endeavor to provide a service that is as fun and affordable as it is professional. If we aren’t paid, however, for an event or party that we work, we have to raise our prices and we become instantly less fun to work with. This is why we choose to work only with people who can actually pay their bills.

Stumptown DJs Will Screw You Over

This company is awful and I cannot believe they are still around. Someone needs to shut them down. They will sweet talk you to get your money and act like they are a professional DJ Service when in reality they are far from it. Their "DJs" are all inexperienced weird drug addicts that have no idea what they are doing. My only guess is the owner of the company uses very cheap labor to improve his profits.
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY - STUMPTOWN DJS IS A SCAM
If you value your money and want to have a DJ that is experienced, friendly, and doesn't look like a sweating disturbed meth addict then I would highly suggest using on of the many other DJs in the area. This is an evil company that cares only about getting your money from you and is not concerned with the quality of their services. I feel bad for the people who have and will continue to be tricked by this company.
Our experience with this company was a nightmare and totally ruined the event we were throwing. I only hope others will find this thread and not get caught up in their web.

I was also ripped off by these guys. They took all my money up front and then disappeared up until just a few days before the event. By the time stumptown djs finally got back to me I was very rushed and couldn't do a lot of the things they said they could offer me because of time constraints. The issue was that they already had all my money and I had no time to hire a new DJ so I was stuck with them.
The day of the event was a nightmare. The weird looking dude showed up late, didn't talk to me at all and just set up and started playing music in the middle of our ceremony. He was sweating bullets and looked like he was on drugs or something. When my brother approached him to ask what was going on he was very hostile and said he was doing exactly what he was told. We ended up just asking him to keep the volume low for the rest of our party while he struggled to stand up let alone DJ my party.
Something is VERY WRONG with stumptown djs. I think they are some kind of outsourcer who just hires random people to do the work and takes a cut of the money. Working with them was a nightmare and I feel like I got totally scammed. They of course have not been able to respond to any of my emails or phone calls asking for an explanation.

The above report is false and has no merit. If you visit our website, you will see that the such negative verbage does not exist on it. We welcome customers of all income levels. We also welcome public critism of our business and it's practices. It makes us aware of our mistakes and helps us grow. Before making a decision based off this ridiculous report, look at our hundreds of great reviews elsewhere.
