While visiting Las Vegas in Jan. 2011, I was invited to a presentation by Summer Bay Resorts. They offered a "trial package" for five years as a Dream Vacation Program. This included a price protection certificate for $9,990 if I liked the resort and choose to buy in later. Every other years i would have use of two weeks of the resort in Las Vegas or other places where Summer Bay Resorts exist (like Orlando). I chose this program because I travel to Las Vegas and I have no desire to go to Florida.

The financial arrangement was to place 50% down up front, and finance the rest over 18 months on a credit card.

In September 2011 I received a letter from the CEO of Orange Lakes Resort that the closed their transaction with Summer Bay Resorts. They chose to expand their resort network to be part of the Desert Club Resort.

So when I called to schedule time to use the resort, they would not honor my request. I tried to use the RCI certificates I was given by Ben Torres, the Summer Bay Resorts sales rep for other stays, and RCI would not honor the use of them.

I called Summer Bay Resorts multiple times, and I was given the run around. I finally called my credit card company to complain. They were very helpful in reversing charges based on "services not received." I lost my original deposit. They put a block to stop Summer Bay from processing any more debits against the credit card.

I discovered much to my dismay when I applied for a refinance on my home, that Summer Bay Resorts placed delinquency notices on my credit report. They are now asking for $1,500 service fee to remove the delinquency from my credit history. My credit score went from 798-820 to 699-739. They also said they were in the process of foreclosure. This would negatively impact my applying for mortgages for the next 2-4 years; the delinquency remains on record for 10 years because it is tied to real estate.

This is COERCION. If Summer Bay could not fulfill the original obligation, how would I believe they will follow through with adjusting my credit report? I already filed disputes with the credit bureaus.

So don't believe what they promise or any of the certificates they provide (they are only paper). So instead of a dream vacation, we have a nightmare. Let others know about this to save yourselves time, money and aggravation.
