I have been a customer for almost3 years with Sunbelt Loans paying off one loan and starting another one. Except for the Incessant Phone calls I really didn't have a problem. That is until I lost my job...
I called to report my job loss in August and to activate the "Mandatory" insurance they told me about when I took out my loan. I was told to come down and fill out the paperwork with proof of my Unemployment. No problem I did this but was told that the insurance would not be activated until I received my first unemployment check, even though I had taken them the Unemployment approval letter. Since my payment was due I went ahead and paid my payment, so as to not have a late payment on my loan. I also asked for the payoff and was told that it was a little over $500.00
When I received my first UE check I called them to ask them what I need to do next and they said bring proof that I received it. Since UE is done all electronically I went to my bank and got records of the deposit. Then drove 10 miles to take them the bank statement. Even though I asked, I was not told anything at that time as to how I would be notified of the insurance companies payment process. all I was told is that "All we can do is File it and see what happens" ????
That's when it started... the constant phone calls...the constant explanations I had to give over and over again, with each person that called not knowing what the last person had found out when they called me the day before. This went on for a month or two.
In December after daily phone calls for the past 2 months I was told "Oh the insurance carrier only paid $50 payment on this date, and then $32 on another date....but you are responsible to keep your loan current." At that point I asked for the name and number of the insurance carrier and was told that they could not give me that information. I was also told that I needed to refile with proof that I was still on UE. AGAIN I took everything to them to refile with the insurance. Again I was denied the insurance company's name and POC.
In January I had constant phone calls....the miscommunication...and a different story from each person that called. Last week I received a letter from the insurance carrier, stating that they had paid a payment on my account in September. So finally I had their contact information and immediately called them to hopefully get an explaination as to the terms and conditions of this Insurance.
Spoke to a representative that told me that my insurance policy expired in October 2012 !!!!!
Asking how much they had paid up until that point and was told approximately $300.00. When I called Sunbelt to asked about what I had just found out they played dumb....
The ignorance and the incompetence of Sunbelt and the whole staff is beyond anything I have experienced it my 60 years on this planet.
#1 ALL the representatives can barely SPEAK let alone UNDERSTAND the English language.
#2 No documentation in their computer system, as to what was communicated in the past
#3 IGNORANCE of the representatives as to how everything works.
#4 OBSESSIVE phone calls...I kept tract on my cell phone...158 calls since November 2012!!!!
Steer clear of this company they should not even be in business!
Oh and BTW remember when I said in August 2012 my balance was a little over $500.00, and that my insurance paid about $300.00 before my policy expired?...When I asked what my payoff was on Monday I was told $518.00 UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
