received notification tha i had won a lottery and was sent a check for 4700.00 to pay for non resident government service tax .was told tha i had won 450,000. fred harris the claim agent told me to deposit the check and when the funds became availale to send 2,800 to a tax agent named susan bryant via western union .

believing this offer was legitimate i did as i was told. then mr harris wanted another 2000 to pay for some kind of insurance . at that point i became suspicious. looked into the internet and found out i was scammed . that 4,700 check was returned to the bank unpaid and i was notified by the bank that my account had been debited 3000 which i had withdrawn to pay the tax.

SunTrust didn't rip you off...

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 12, 2007

"Fred harris the claim agent" and "a tax agent named Susan Bryant" did.

I'm sorry you were a victim of this scam. SunTrust is not at fault in any way. They just want the money back you took from them with a bogus check.

SunTrust gave you the cash on good faith that the check was good. It wasn't. Nobody (especially a bank) is going to just give you $4700.00.

For anyone else reading this, you will never win a lottery or contest that you dont enter. Ever.

Furthermore, no real contest will ever send you money only to have you send it right back to them. How much sense does that really make? Then to have them ask for more money is absurd for any reason.

The ONLY reason this popular scam works is greed. A lot of people seem to lose any common sense they possess when they think they can make an easy fortune.

Good luck.
